Corona virus lockdown = more porn searches

It looks like corona virus will help the porn industry. The question is, if people aren’t able to work and earn money, will there be an increase in sales, or just an increase in traffic to free sites?

[The article is from South China Morning Post which, as far as I can tell, is an English Language paper out of Hong Kong. I always find their perspective interesting and pretty well balanced since they straddle the East-West divide (location vs language) and focus on stories the US press ignores.]

I immediately share a personal impression. I have doubled the traffic, but there’s no change in sales since the hysteria invaded Europe. I don’t think anyone would buy porn when people are crazy to buy flour, macaroni, and safety masks and don’t know exactly what’s going on. As a financier, I can assume that sales are going to decrease.

We have seen a jump in traffic as well with our sites still converting great.

This is VERY much along the lines of my thinking, its not the isolation that’s going to drive sales up, the uncertainty of how long it will last and people forced to take time off work, or not knowing when the next paycheck will be I would think, would drive sales down.

Its not all doom and gloom though, I just like to plan for the worst and hope for the best.

I am seeing an increase in both traffic and sales.

Maybe it’s not just because people staying at home - but also a result of people who are now afraid to hook up and jerk off instead. Just a guess though.

We dont have a site up yet, so the only effect we see is that some models cancelling their shootings this month cause theyre afraid of traveling to Berlin…

Im sure it does increase traffic but like already mentioned i doubt it will increase sales. It’s a double edged sword, because people are worried about the financial impact.

“Its not all doom and gloom though, I just like to plan for the worst and hope for the best.” … I feel the same way, but I did buy extra bags of dog food.

To be honest, I lose my temper. Everything’s closed here. Only supermarkets and pharmacies work, but there are no necessary goods. For example, bleach, protective masks, bread, cans, toilet paper. Looks like it’s the end of the world we know. Not to mention that social isolation leads to psychological problems… Constantly breaking news, people reporting the next case. I haven’t really cried in years, but these days I cry a lot without knowing why. From my point of view, porn is the last thing I think of.

I know, it’s mass hysteria made far worse by the press. Actual real information is very hard to come by. The way the countries do their quarantine is also totally random and doesnt always make sense.

bgmen … where are you??

Unfortunately, with the exception of Great Britain, the whole of Europe does the same thing-there are closed shops and restaurants, flights are canceled. If you have the chance, now’s the perfect time to stock up on supplies. Here everything disappeared in 8 hours from the beginning of the crisis.

I’m stuck in Sofia, and it looks like it will be a longer stay. They canceled my flight to Prague 5 days ago, but there are the same measures, so obviously it doesn’t matter anymore.

By the way, if it hasn’t happened to you yet, I’ll tell you how things escalate literally in a few days. There were no cases of Coronavirus until last Tuesday. They found the first 2 on Tuesday, on Thursday, they were already 20 ones, forcing the authorities to declare a state of emergency. On Friday everyone was in supermarkets and people bought literally everything. 1 week later confirmed cases are 62, and people under the quarantine over 400. Everything is closed, students are educated in virtual classrooms, almost all flights are canceled. And it’s only for 1 week, literally at the beginning of the epidemic.

Our government (The Netherlands) has decided to focus on the herd immunity principle, which means that around 70% of the people (which is 11 million people) have to get sick and become resistant to corona. It’s still unclear whether it’s impossible to get infected a second time. Schools, bars, restaurants and such are still closed at the moment, but soon they will re-open certain facilities to let the virus spread around (in a controlled way to not overwhelm the hospitals).

While I understand the idea behind this theory and know there are possible benefits, it feels like we’re a bunch of guinea pigs now. Especially since this goes against the advice of the WHO and many virologists. I believe no other country (including the UK now) has decided to try it this way. There’s a lot of criticism from academics, scientists and authorities, who believe that aiming for herd immunity is a very risky way to go.

Whether you’re living in full lockdown or whether your government wants you to become infected… it all sucks. Stay as healthy as possible everyone!

11 million cases times a death rate of 3.2% means ~352,000 people will die. And if you don’t flatten the curve, your health system will be over capacity and more people will die of other things because the system is unable to care for them. SMH…

Dr Birx at the WH briefing today said if you exclude Wuhan, but it does include Italy, the death rate is settling in right now at about 0.7%. "We do know from other countries — and that all is available online, that profile — you can see that mortality under 30 is extraordinarily low. The mortality across the board, outside of Wuhan, is now settling somewhere around 0.7. But that should not be reassuring because it’s much higher in people with preexisting medical conditions, even if young, and people that are older with preexisting medical conditions.

And so we still want every American focused on doing what they can do today to change the course of this pandemic."

Like Mark, we have seen both our sales and traffic increase on both zbuckz.com and dickbank.com sites by a LARGE MARGIN. It is matching the numbers we do during the Christmas/New Year holidays which is our top sales week of the year. Honestly if you are stuck at home, there is no better time to promote porn. We are running a “$9.95 first month” option on most of our sites for Revshare (until the end of March) which is converting like crazy right now. We’ll be sending out an announcement about it to affiliates later today.

I think it’s too early to see any real increase. I would think most people are worried about when they’re going to get paid next and whether they can restock their cupboards. Things might improve if there’s going to be more stability over the coming weeks, as governments start to roll out support systems and the pointless panic buying stops, but until then I think most people have bigger priorities than what to wank to.

Has the Netherlands changed this policy yet?
It’s just been published today, leaked from within UK government, that the decision on “herd immunity” was refuted by most scientists and was only pushed by that psychopath Cummings.

Our UK government effectively ignored all scientific advice and instead chose to take the suggestions of a cabal of criminal tech bros already guilty of attacking democratic processes.

There’s already talk of trials in the future. These people will be blamed for potentially thousands of needless deaths.

As much as i like making money…this celebration of lockdowns is starting to seem very macabre. people are dying in their hundreds and thousands. Celebrating this as a way we can all make money by higher searches and traffic is very sick.
