Apple's New Lion OS X

The new Lion OS X became available today, I didn’t waste any time and installed it right away. I have to say as an Apple computer from only the last 6 months they are always striving to make improvements to their systems so they are stable, realible and simply make sense. I love this new OS!

It is now even easier to scroll through different programs I am running so I can work faster and more efficient. I am so impressed with the new iMail system. It blows Outlook email away.

I still have windows running machines, but I much prefer the Mac when I am working on videos, photo retouching, surfing the internet or checking email. I never will see the blue screen of death again!

If you have an iPad, or iPhone this new version for the Mac is based off their app system and its an easy transition for you to a Mac desktop. Just had to say my 2 cents since I am so excited to see all of the new features. I am truly becoming an Apple geek.

Re: Apple’s New Lion OS X

I installed it yesterday also. Other then some difference in scrolling and a few more shortcuts, I haven’t noticed a big difference over the old OS X though, lol. Am I missing some more key features??

Re: Apple’s New Lion OS X

I have the magic touch pad which I think lion was designed for, or the magic mouse. So 3 fingers scrolls side to side. 5 fingers close in brings up the launch pad and 3 fingers up and down brings up mission control… those are the top short cuts I know. 2 fingers when browsing goes back and forth between the pages. There is a number more to experiment with.

I guess I am most crazy about the new iMail. Full email conversations are brought up and simplifies keeping track of all emails during a conversation.

Re: Apple’s New Lion OS X

Ahh cool, thanks for explaining…I have been playing with the shortcuts and trying to make use of them. I haven’t even checked out the new imail so will take a look at that shortly!

Re: Apple’s New Lion OS X

Here we go… the Apple lobby (shareholders) have begun trying to take over this board too :grrr:

Re: Apple’s New Lion OS X

LOL! I am trying to keep biting my tongue :agree::tongue:

Re: Apple’s New Lion OS X

You should have seen my attempted “edit” of my post… I exceeded 7 minutes and the system wouldn’t accept it! Where did seven minutes come from? 10 minutes should surely be reasonable?

Anyway, my attempted edit went on to say that many of us left JustUsWebmasters simpy because it was more focused on Apple, its products and its shareprice than it was on adult industry issues. So please, can the IC crew respect the fact that GayDemon is NOT the place (IMHO) to come and try and promote or boost your investments in Apple.

Really… is it not obvious to you?

Re: Apple’s New Lion OS X

When Steve dies Apple will die…thank goodness, those thieves have had too much of a good thing.

Re: Apple’s New Lion OS X

You know. I am biting my tounge as well. I mean if you don’t like the ONE post about Apple that is on the front page don’t read it. Seriously, when a company releases a new OS that many of us use it’s something to talk about. Just as a new browser is. A new release to a video editing program. Anything that we use in our daily work routine.

I was going to make a post about the newest version of Adobe Creative Suite, but i don’t want to come off as an Adobe fanboy. Geez.

Re: Apple’s New Lion OS X

Consider yourself lucky. It seems every time I boot Windows 7 it takes at least 7 minutes to do a “security” update. Updating… 1 of 37 Updates Complete. Approx time remaining 7 days, 12 hours, and 37 minutes.

Re: Apple’s New Lion OS X

Oh Lloyd I love you…

LOL. Ain’t that the truth? And that’s just the OS updates. I then have to wait another hour or so for the ‘virus scans’ to stop slowing down my computer…of course the second I don’t scan for viruses, I get infected, have to reinstall windows, and that takes up another 24 - 48 hours. Oh the joys of Windows!

But I wouldn’t mind if the PC people want to post threads about all the great Windows 7 security updates.

Re: Apple’s New Lion OS X

Ah, to each their own. Personally I don’t mind hearing about any OS and the latest releases. I am Win7 user, haven’t experienced any of what you have Lloyd or Danny, but that’s me. Few times I even tried to use a Mac, on a test basis, I had nothing but grief. It’s no different than promoting sponsors. Some do absolutely amazing with one, while another does the complete crap with it.

Still it’s fun to hear the successes and failures for the same thing. Shows you just how fickle everything is. lol

Re: Apple’s New Lion OS X

I want Vista back! (I miss that OS so bad…)

Well, in all honesty, you don’t realize how much better a Mac is tell you actually make the switch. I was exclusively a PC user for about 10 years until I made the switch to Mac about 2 years ago. When you use a PC things like viruses, security updates, crashing, long start up times when you turn the computer on etc. etc. seem like normal. Then you switch to a Mac, and it’s just like OMG, life doesn’t have to be like this!

Now of course switching to Mac is a learning curve, but once you get over that hump, it opens up a whole new, fresh world. I can only tell you my experience though. I still own 2 PC Computers so I am not 100% on Mac myself, but given the choice, I always use my Mac and just use the PC for things I can put on autopilot like rendering videos and uploading.

Re: Apple’s New Lion OS X

Oh honey, I knew you loved Vista so bad…deep in your heart. :w00t:

Re: Apple’s New Lion OS X

It’s odd really. People who got caught up in the whole “buy Apple” stock threads on the board that died a death (can’t think why) still think they need to slam Windows and promote Apple.

Meanwhile, all of us who use (and continue to use) Windows do so quite happily and very quietly. We might upgrade or change our operating system… but we don’t come here to discuss it. We come here to discuss and view topics related to the gay adult industry - and NOT Apple / Windows products unless they have a direct impact on our businesses - ie Apple won’t let porn play on their products through their control of the software installed on them.

Let’s be clear - Apple is NOT a friend of porn - it is an obstacle to what we do. Get real and put your glasses on!

Please - if you want to discuss Apple / Microsoft products instead of participating in adult-related discussions here then do it on the Apple / Microsoft forums that exist elsewhere… or continue it on JustUsWebmasters. I for one do NOT want all the Apple loving hypocrisy of a company that’s dead-set against porn brought to this forum.

Re: Apple’s New Lion OS X

I don’t have any Apple Stock. And I fail to see how Windows is any friendlier to porn:

That’s a new one on me! And it’s worthy of discussion

With all due respect, and I do respect you, I believe that when a new operating system is released that it is fair game to talk about it as it is after all something that we all use. Some use Windows. Some use Linux. Others use Apple. Are you suggesting that we should ONLY talk about things related to the adult industry specifically?

Let’s see. That will kill any talks about Adobe products. The thread about the Norway explosion. Oops! let’s not talk about News Corp. What about the thread about Succubus? Damn! GSM asked about e-reader help. Can’t go there. Ugh. Someone talked about the last Harry Potter movie. That’s a big no no as well.

And to think that I was going to start a thread and post this video as a way of having a goos laugh on a Friday…
