I’m thinking about starting a TGP. Can anyone recommend a good TGP script for a newbie, but is also easily customised and still quite functional?
Re: Your favourite TGP script?
I like Site Organizer because you can run as many TGP sites as you want from 1 script, which makes it extremely easy to do things like add new galleries, add new TGP sites or even add in a mini-tgp style site to your blog. For instance, take a look here: http://www.gaywillies.com/free-gay-galleries.php that mini-tgp is accomplished with just a couple lines of code.
Of course, if you are purist TGP’er, you prolly want to go with a script like SmartThumbs, but honestly I tried it and didn’t really like it as it was too complex for what I wanted, plus it did not have the single admin interface.

Hey gaydemon_jr,
I would highly recomment Smart Thumbs (ST) to you http://www.smart-scripts.com
If you read through all the guidebook stuff it’s quite ok to handle and there are many guys on askdamagex.com who will be happy to help you setting it up.
It’s by far the most advanced TGP script and has unbeatable features like autocropping, autocasting and handling as many sites with only one pool of galleries as you want if you get the paid version.
If you use those functions you can just import all sponsor updates and don’t need to crop any thumbs at all. The surfers will decide which thumb of each gallery they like most. This way we can add every sponsor update to our sites within 5 minutes of work.
Furthermore you can add certain gallery spots for your best sponsors or implement paid spots and you can track everything easily.
We tried Comus Thumbs as well but it’s far more complex and doeasn’t have the auto-functions.
Together with ATX as trade script this is the combo to use
Re: Your favourite TGP script?
Great, thanks for the suggestions!
Re: Your favourite TGP script?
I guess I’m with the other school of though: I prefer TGPX from JMB Software.
Like any good software, it will be worth your while to read through the documentation fully. Its a bit complex, but fully customizable. TGPX is really packed with features, and like the others mentioned in this thread, you can use a single installation to manage several TGPs as long as they are on the same physical server.
I guess it depends on what you want to do with your TGP site. Will you be accepting submissions from partners or will it be a “fake TGP” only showing your own galleries.
I also tried Smart Thumbs, but found it too complicated for my own TGP sites, none of which accept submissions.
Equally important is going to be your choice of traffic trading script. I use Trade Expert on my main TGPs, and the free Sloth Trader on my smaller ones. I also tried Arrow Trader Lite (free), but I wasnt crazy about the interface.
Re: Your favourite TGP script?
TGPX is great for TGP’s that accept submissions. It evolved out of the old TGP’s which lived from submitters. For FHG driven TGP’s ST is much more advanced and I don’t think it’s complicated. Sure you will need some days to really check everything but then you should be fine
Re: Your favourite TGP script?
ST and ATX all the way. I have used both since day 1 and love them.

Re: Your favourite TGP script?
you thinking of starting a thumb preview or text preview tgp? and will you be accepting submissions - even from friends - or will your tgp be just your own or fhgs?
Re: Your favourite TGP script?
I would like to do a thumb one, and would consider accepting submissions from friends.
Re: Your favourite TGP script?
TGPX is really good but takes a while to understand and learn.
Re: Your favourite TGP script?
Smart Thumbs is a must. It has a very well organized backend. Really easy to understand. It has just few limitations like having just a big “hall of fame” instead of “daily update” but you can easily tweak it in order to do whatever you want. Everything is very well explained in their support forum. Thousands of webmasters use this script, another point to go for it.
About trade script I love Trade Expert. It has the same cost of ATX but they do big discounts. I like the “stability” that this script gives to every site. You can build rock solid sites. It means that your site has the same range of traffic to be in. The goal of every SMART webmaster is having stable sites. It’s not so common for TGP/MGP.
