We have been on Twitter for a while now: http://twitter.com/MFAffiliates - we also have one for our blog, http://twitter.com/MaleflixxxTribe and one for our corporate site, http://twitter.com/sureflix.

It is a great way to connect with your audiences.

Please note, Joan from ASACP released a Twitter Best Pracitces for adult companies > http://www.asacp.org/index.php?content=news&item=728&PHPSESSID=b8c7410a33f1bd92e85bcf749d055c40.

Waste of time … 40 million people talking and no one is listening.

Re: Who twitters?

Bjorn, I think a site like yours could easily get thousands of followers quickly & really benefit from using it. Especially to announce new or updated reviews.

Good to at least get your name before someone else does:

http://twitter.com/barebackplace

For personal use, I also have my name registered and use that account follow Pro Cycling. It’s actually very useful for something specific like that. I check it several times a day on my phone.

I understand why you might say that seeing as there is loads of crap/useless noise on Twitter. However, if used for a specific purpose it can be useful.

God knows I receive more crap via Email than I do useful messages but I’ve not stopped using Email.

More and more tools are being developed all the time. I’m currently checking out this one which is suppose to help quite down all the noise: http://filttr.com/

Re: Who twitters?

lol - you’re one of the ones twittering…

I twitter. When I have something to say that is too short for a blog post, I put it there… And people do listen - I get quick a few replies back to my tweets. And I’ve found some of my followers are at the same bar at the same time I am…

Re: Who twitters?

Going to test it and see…

Say I want to have comments or have a question to ask people following me on Twitter, can only people I follow reply to it or how does it work? Do or should I follow everyone that follows me?

Re: Who twitters?

I have always thought it was a waste of time but I can see reading this thread (and the other one) that it may not be a bad idea to reach out that way. I can see some benefits.

Wow.

I have a lot of thinking to do.

Re: Who twitters?

Yep, I do my tweets, though not for adult, least not yet. No time but maybe one day I’ll add an adult profile. whistle

Re: Who twitters?

My vote is that it’s a waste of time. The “40 million people talking and no one is listening” is about right. Here are a couple problems I found:

  1. People will follow you only to get you to follow them. They then filter your tweets.
  2. It’s another “to-do” since there are bots that will auto-follow you. In other words, a lot of “Free Hot Girls is following you”. So, to maintain your followers you have to purge the bot accounts.
  3. It’s information overload. To get the most out of it, people have to filter the tweets since there is so much junk going around.

That being said, registering to protect the brand name is a good idea.

Re: Who twitters?

That’s true, but so what. You don’t have to follow them. Many more will follow you because they’re generally interested. Those are the only ones you should care about anyway.

Twitter has started to get better at removing spam accounts. You will now periodically see your follow list drop a bunch of followers all at once.

Agreed to a point. Like I said in my previous post there are new tools coming out all the time to help with this.

That’s all pretty easily controlled. For starters I don’t follow anyone who does too many replies to other users. I want to see real content, not things like “@rawtop LOL”. But yeah, you do have to go through and delete all the bots who follow you - but they’re easy to spot - they almost always show up as Asian girls.

Re: Who twitters?

Yeah, I have now decided (after rethinking) to remain twit less.

Re: Who twitters?

I created some accounts such as www.twitter.com/japanboyz but it didn’t generated any income for us that I could see. I do think it’s good to get your brand name though, and probably helps some for branding your site. Has anyone here actually seen any sales come directly from your tweets?

Re: Who twitters?

Twitter has been very successful for me in gaining sales!

Re: Who twitters?

I twitter my new blog posts, we twitter photos from shoots as we shoot… we twitter all sorts of dumb stuff.

and it seems to work.

Re: Who twitters?

tweets

Re: Who twitters?

Thank you for the feedback, guess it’s worth it to keep twittering!
