What to do with pages with high bounce rates?

I’m wondering what to do with pages, actually in my case a whole section which has a far worse bounce rate than the rest of the site.

On gaydemon most sections have very low bounce rate; less than 30%, while 1 section has 60%+ - the TGP galleries.

One idea would be to remove the section from some navigational elements. So that visitors from other sources do not see or visit that section. Or maybe my thinking is wrong, just because it has high bounce rates does not mean its not worth having good traffic on it… or?

Bounce rates are funny. In our business a bounce isn’t necessarily a bad thing. If the person is immediately leaving to go to one of our sponsors, then that’s a good thing. One thing you might try is registering the outbound click to the sponsor as a pageview, then bounces (single page sessions) would indeed be bad. I do this with pageTracker._trackPageview in Google Analytics - though it doesn’t fire properly 100% of the time.
