It’s good that the specifics have been discussed. But there is more to the story, the big picture.
It’s partly about how people respond in tough times, like what we are experiencing today. In a crisis, people have more heart and lend a hand. They are also more greedy, selfish and cruel.
There’s another issue that has NOTHING to do with tough times. Business itself is a strange bird. It can be constructive or destructive depending on how much it’s nature is understood, controlled, tamed. Otherwise, business is cold period. It doesn’t mind killing it’s own children or cutting off it’s own leg in desperation. Many people are specifically taught this is how it is and must be if you are a practical and smart businessperson.
There’s also the adage that it’s not that the devil doesn’t want other people to be happy. He just wants to get things for himself first. Though I find varying and contradictory evidence, my guess is the following. If you really want to make sure you lose in the end, think that money is all that matters, not human values or other people. Sooner or later you’ll be hungry and desperate to extremes you never dreamed of.
This is a business, we have bad times, and the two are bringing out the best and worst of us.

What I just said doesn’t mean that some practical decisions that might hurt have to be made. But there is a difference between this and what I was saying in my last post.

Quite accurate. Yet I see things on this board that even if I weren’t in porn would blow me away. Affiliates trashing customers is insane, trashing sponsors I can see it if it’s a last resort and all else has failed. Think about it. What if Wal-Mart openly said ‘Sony sucks’ (I’m not saying that at all). Or they said our customers are all stupid fat ignorant bastards (uhm) - what would happen? This is a public forum and I’m sorry to even go there is just plain stupid. IMHO and I’m sure I get yelled at by Bjorn this place should be a helpful place not a destructive one. We’re all in the same boat and well whether it sinks or not depends on us constructively solving things…together.

I read complaint after complaint about sponsors…this one isn’t paying, that one won’t respond to emails and the same names come up again and again.
Why do affiliates continue to try to get sponsors to change instead of moving to sponsors that do respond? It makes zero sense to me but it happens all the time.
When you discuss 10% and 90%, where is the percentage of affiliates that don’t even bother to open the emails we send out? We are lucky if 30% of affiliate emails are opened and read within 30 days. Almost 20% of affiliates do not have a functioning email address and keep their mailing addresses masked so that we are not able to reach them in any way.
Affiliates need to look very hard at who they are working with. There is zero reason that they should have to bitch about the way they are being handled. Why do they keep pounding away for companies that don’t treat them the way the want to be treated? I really don’t get it.

They’re lured in by those enticing $35, $45, $75, and $100 PPS payouts and bonus days. And it’s hard not to get sucked in because who doesn’t want to make $100 … “Gee if I can sell 10 memberships, that’s $1000. I could buy a new laptop!”
