Stats Remote Break Down By...

In case everyone else missed it like I did… Stats Remote now allows you to break down the results for NATS programs by either site or campaign (it will repull all your data when you do that - so be prepared). A breakdown by site is also available for PPV Networks’ “new” program. To activate the feature you have to go into the program properties and check a box on the 2nd tab. This was something I was pushing Stats Remote to do, so I’m pretty happy they made the change.

Re: Stats Remote Break Down By…

Be VERY careful using it. When I tested the new breakdown feature for them it screwed up my historical stats. I had to delete all my old stats and re-download everything. I lost a lot of old historical data because of it.

If you do try it out, make sure to only do 1 program at a time and check that the overall stats for it matches your old data.

Too late… lol

I haven’t noticed any problems though. My total amount for last year stayed about the same.

From what I remember it was only (or mainly) a problem with programs that upgraded from old to new NATS. I think there was a big change in historical stats between the two versions of NATS which then caused my historical stats to get messed up. Maybe that’s been solved now.

Re: Stats Remote Break Down By…

I asked Neil at StatsRemote about this because I wanted to try it but opted to ask more before trying due to Bjorn’s warnings.

It appears that it should be working fine now based on his response but he hasn’t had any good guinea pigs to work with to further test it.He needs people with numerous NATS accounts that have multi campaigns and multi site sales to actually test the system thoroughly.

Here is the reply I received from Neil so maybe it can help others.

This has been quite frustrating for us because we approached a number of
users whom we knew were big NATS users. Bjorn was the first to respond
but as he says, we jointly discovered a horrible glitch we could not have
foreseen with our own empty accounts. That problem has been resolved. A
few others started testing then go quiet and stop responding to our
emails, so we can never come to the opinion that all the bugs have been
ironed out. That said, our confidence is such that we have not had to
remove the feature. Several new safeguards were added following Bjorn’s
experience.

One issue we do know about, again with a user who is slow to respond, is
associated with someone who has literally hundreds of campaigns and he
ends up with a red status.

So to your questions…

  1. See above.

  2. These are the precise instructions I have been giving the testers…

+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

  1. Please make a ‘FULL’ backup of your current installation before you
    start. Instructions here…
    http://www.statsremote.com/v4/backup.php

This is important as you may need to find an individual stats history file
from here if something misbehaves. So saving your backup to the same
computer for this purpose is OK.

  1. Now right-click ONE of your NATS4/NATS4.1 programs and select
    Properties -> Settings.

Here you will see ‘Enable Breakdown by’ = None.
Please change this to = Site or Campaign. StatsRemote will then, for that
program, re-read all your stats daily back to 1st Jan 2011 OR your Account
Active Since date OR a NATS3/NATS4.1 cutover date, whichever is more
recent.

  1. When the stats have been read, right-click the program and select Show
    Breakdown and carefully look at your stats back to 1st January 2011.

Please pick a program that if this does not work, you would allow us
temporary access to your account PLUS send us the associated stats history
file. I will explain more about this if needs be.

Please DO NOT perform any kind of Reset if there is a problem.

Let me know how this first program goes and tell me whether you picked
Site or Campaign. For now, we don’t propose to offer both (at the same
time).
++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

If you wish to proceed with this, let me know how the first program goes.

Neil

So there you have it… 99% sure it’s working but to make it 100% sure it’s working needs more people who are willing to test it out and send the required feedback.

Sincerely,
Kevin.
