Sponsor Site Morbidity & Mortality Report

I just finished reranking all the sponsor sites in my CMS. I did a check of sites I wasn’t sure of to see if they were still active. Here’s my list of dead sites, sites that have been redirected or merged, and sites that aren’t updating. Are there others that should be on the list?

[BTW, if I’m having payment issues with a sponsor I just ignore their sites. The list of sponsors with payment issues is at the bottom.]

You’re right - it was .net - I see the 2257 URL was on RawFilms.net.

My old link for that site was http://www.radvideocash.com/track/OTUuMTAwMjEuNTEuMTQzLjIuMC4wLjAuMA and it’s now going to radvideo.com, not Staxus. Since I don’t have radvideo.com in my CMS, I’m going to leave RawFilms on the dead list rather than the redirect list.

Radvideo.com is a completely different site (retail store) that has nothing to do with RawFilms. Rawfilms was a paysite, currently redirected / merged to / with Staxus.com.

If you were using radvideocash.com link for RawFilms, then you were using an incorrect link. Radvideocash => Radvideo.com.

We only acquired Radvideo 2 years ago, I’ve been working with them for the past 4 years so I know what I am saying. There is no way NATS could have given you the Radvideo link for Rawfilms.net.

Anyway I don’t really care, just wanted to point it out but you can leave it where you want

Thanks for sharing that list! I see we both found out the hard way about Satyr Films. Such a shame, they have great content.

The not-updating ones comes in handy, will update my reviews for those sites.

Actually I now understand the problem with Satyr Films. Yes, they’ve got some of their stuff in their site, but I think people mostly join (and stay members) for the feed content. It was when he added feeds that he started having payment problems. Bottom line - he may have member retention - but he just doesn’t have 50% left over at the end of the day to pay affiliates. I know I looked into starting something similar using one or more of the content providers out there. I could come up with pricing scenarios where I could make money, but not ones where there was enough profit that I could pay an affiliate 50%. And even the scenarios where I could make money - I wasn’t so convinced that the surfer would get something that was high quality enough to warrant the price.

Be careful with the not-updating list… I haven’t confirmed all of those.

I would have thought their own content would be enough to sell the site and keep some members staying on. Initial sales were always very good and the content is quite something else. Maybe they would have done better overall without feeds.
