Sales Drought in January?

To all Webmasters,

are you experiencing sales drought this January?
with every sponsors you promote? rofl

Re: Sales Drought in January?

No, for me this month has been the best month ever - by quite significant proportions (not taking into account sales from gay porn pig which would obviously skew the figures).

Re: Sales Drought in January?

The 1st week of Jan was a little slower but that’s typical post-holiday slowdown.

This week has been our best in about 3.5 years. (Thanks Caleb!)

Re: Sales Drought in January?

I have to say that the first three weeks of January were rocking for Butch Dixon. I was waiting for the after-Christmas slump, but it just didn’t happen. We had a couple of record-breaking days since the first of the month.

Things were a tad less enthuiastic this past week.

My own personal affiliate sales have been about normal.

Re: Sales Drought in January?

We have been working our butts off getting BritishBucks and AlexanderBucks sites all ready for promos, so that has affected my own sales levels on other sites. But, good news is that we now have our new CMS structure in place and are migrating all these sites members areas over the next week, plus we are in the middle of migrating everything to spanking new servers that are super-fast at NationalNet, plus we have a new tour ready for BrazilianDicks and it will be launched within days too. Oh, of course, there is also like 100,000 other changes that I have made on the back end to improve things too…so if we can make the schedule, February should be absolutely rocking!

Re: Sales Drought in January?

Sales rocked for me from December 12th until January 8th. I broke some major personal records across the board for all sponsors I promote. In fact, sites that don’t usually sell that well for me were raking them in. It was quite uplifting.

Since January 9th however, sales have trickled in and slowed down. I expect this though, as people probably spent a lot of money over the holidays and are back to business as usual.

I think 2010 will be a good year though. The US dollar is rising again and that should help matters I would think.

Re: Sales Drought in January?

Please stop the typical “BEST MONTH EVER BULLSHIT”

Re: Sales Drought in January?

Can I presume goldbars isnt faring very well lol? You know, sometimes it is better… not to post

If it is the best month, then it is the best month.

However, I shall help qualify your… simplistic… message. A lot of us don’t have sites that are 5 years old… ie… they are growing quite a lot. So best months really aren’t that a big a rarity. Plus, the market on the whole (minus recessions etc) is a growing market, and with growing markets, there is bound to be no shortage of bumper months.

A ‘best month’ coming from someone like Bjorn with mature sites is much more significant than someone such as myself, but that was not the question.

Re: Sales Drought in January?

First week of jan was very good, then up until last night its been very slow. Seems to be picking up since yesterday but it does normally do towards the end of the month.

I do have a feeling we will see some dire / bad months to come. People will be running out of credit now and I don’t think we’ve seen the worst of it yet.

Re: Sales Drought in January?

I had a little slump in December but things have been consistent and feel like they’re back on track this month. Weird part is I’ve been busy and haven’t put in enough time but sales are still OK.

Re: Sales Drought in January?

we have been doing great this month.

Re: Sales Drought in January?

Adult income on the decline for me, but I can’t blame the market - been spending a lot of time on mainstream projects lately. Will be giving adult a push again soon!

Re: Sales Drought in January?

First half of January was good for me but a little bit slow now.

Re: Sales Drought in January?

I made NO sales in the month of January. The story of my life.

Re: Sales Drought in January?

Yeah, it seems as though people are pretty broke right now. At least, I hope that’s all it is. I’m sure we’ll be getting over the hump soon. I always try to stay positive about slow sales times. More often than not things bounce back. We have to remember that the holidays are a time when credit cards are racked up and people need some time to recuperate and pay off the credit tyrants.

Re: Sales Drought in January?

Insanity is doing the same thing over and over and expecting a different out-come. We have made countless suggestions on what you can do. But most of all you have to widen your approach to things or find a more popular area to promote. No sales at all? That is a tragic waste of your life and time. Run a search on posts you have made asking for advice and see exactly how much of it you have followed and what the results have been. If you are getting nowhere, it may be time to change course in a dramatic way.

Really man, we are here to help you but if you won’t or can’t make some changes that seriously alter the results you are seeing, you can’t expect things to really improve. It may well be that affiliate sales are not the path for you. Clearly you can write so perhaps that is a path you should follow.

Re: Sales Drought in January?

You have lots of text that should be interesting to read but it doesn’t relate to your sponsors in any real way. Unless somebody randomly clicks on one of the banners that are sort of dropped around the site, there is no reason to expect that this site will cause anyone to buy. It is a shame because the text is well written. I am of average intelligence (no laughing) and I couldn’t really figure out how to get anywhere on the main page. Plus there is that whole warning thing that is just aching for an enter button.

IF it were mine I would find models that look like the people in those stores from various sponsors and I would use their images inside the stories as illustrations linking them to the sponsors to sell. All in a cleaner and much more elegant format.

Re: Sales Drought in January?

Good advice. If sales are that bad for you and are pretty much non-existent, it might be time to open your mind up and promote things that aren’t your main turn-on. I know that’s tough to do, but it can pay off. I’m not turned on by twinks at all. I like older, hairy men. However, if I relied on the hairy and mature niches exclusively I’d have a hard time making consistent sales. Those who like hairy and older men find my blogs and pull out the credit card and all, but not everyone likes older and hairy men. Thus, other niches have to come into the picture for me too.

While sales are certainly slow right now - at least for me and others I’ve spoken with - I have made sales this month and do every week. January is just about 50% what December was. LOL. So a slap in the face so to speak, but I’m convinced things will pick up again. I always do well November and December of each year anyway.

Anyway…I’ll shut up now. Alex gives some good advice. Try something new Terrytowel and see what happens. You really never know until you try, right?

Re: Sales Drought in January?

I’m just going to be blunt. I think it’s time you dropped your bathhouse theme. It’s obviously not working. I mean come on, a whole month with no sales at all? Abandon ship immediately!

I’m in no way saying abandon adult, just entirely change what you’re doing. There is plenty of money to be made in adult. Many of us on this board make a living, and in many cases, a very nice living, producing and/or promoting adult sites. You just need to find your way. I sincerely wish you all the best.
