Pre-checked cross sells and Forced Trials

Re: Pre-checked cross sells and Forced Trials

Im not certain about that. I got the impression that MC and Visa were doing away with this, but I could be wrong. I did read somewhere that they had a big meeting about it.

Let me fire a couple of points at you then 666

Sexkey have amazing new entry scripts, when will Mansites get the same? IMO Mansites scripts are awfull. The new Sexkey ones are the best Ive seen with any AVS.

Second, I know you guys think free sells better than $1. But surfers rightly question why they giving out a credit card number for a free product. Why dont you let webmasters choose either a free join or a $1 join?

If you make those changes, I personally think that you will sell more memberships.

Oh, and can you tell us more about this Tube site? Im very interested to see what you have…
something you may already be aware of if that marcjacob was correct - mastercard is no longer allowing pre-checks at all. so if you do decide to use them, you’ll have to have seperate join pages for mastercard vs other payment methods.

Actually, this is not correct. MC is not allowing them to happen with different merchant accounts. Meaning, a site that processes through Epoch can still cross sell with another epoch site. Same Merchant account. The same is true with CCbill. If a program has their own merchant account, they can still x-sell their own sites.

There is and always will be a love/hate relationship with X-sells. On one hand a large group of affiliates want a high PPS, on the other hand another group wants no X-sells and are happy with revshare. It’s real tough to please both at the same time.

X-sales are not exclusive to porn. In fact, many mainstream companies have “gimmicks” that are much more confusing than x-sales. Anyone ever tried to cancel the service that you get when you get your free credit reports? Good luck.

I just don’t feel how the free AEN model could survive without X-sells.

I personally have never had an issue with a pre checked X-sell above the submit button. I have a much more issue with limited trials. I have yet to find a paysite that clearly tells you that when you join a limited trial, what you actually get.

have you ever been billed for something you weren’t aware of? lots of people i know were billed for an additional year by bally’s, and even though if it was in their contract, bally’s did refund if you made a fuss. now all those people belong to other gyms and are extremely unlikely to rejoin bally’s. also worth mentioning is that bally’s seems to have discontinued this practice and now offers ex-members substantial discounts to rejoin, so it may be they found that an unwilling member didn’t pay as well in the long run - i’m not sure why they stopped.
Yes. Just three months ago I had to get my doctor to fax a letter to Bally’s that due to three herniated discs in my lower back that I couldn’t work out any more. Go figure…
