Please Boycott Homphobic Straight Porn Star Flash Brown

Hi,

Anyone with blog posts etc on straight porn star, Flash Brown, please take them down. He did a couple of solos, on gay porn sites, when he came on the scene last year. After gaining gay fans and using them to win an award, he has decided he doesn’t want to be featured on gay porn blogs and sent threatening emails etc.

Since my blog posts, explaining why his scenes had been taking down etc., everything has blown up. So, he did an interview on another blog(one he has had a link to on his twitter page for ages, so, obviously a good relationship) with some pathetic apology, but didn’t give the full story. His interview has made many of his gay fans even more angry and my email box has been flooded, since yesterday.

If you have promoted scenes with him, in the past, please take them down and post something on your blog. Or, please take a moment to comment on mine. Details here:

There is also a link in the comments section, of the above post, to the interview with his apology.

We all need to really think about homophobic dudes like this, being supported by the gay porn industry and the gay community.

I know some of us have straight porn blogs too, so please think about what it means, to promote this kind of individual.

Re: Please Boycott Homphobic Straight Porn Star Flash Brown

i have a different take on this. you may have no idea how homophobic the straight porn world is. i’ve had several male friends in straight porn including an ex, and chances are very poor that you’ll make a living in straight porn if word gets out you’ve done gay work. back a few years, jealous male performers could cock block other guys from getting jobs by putting out a whisper they do gay porn.

maybe this guy isn’t homophobic - maybe he’s just needs work.

Re: Please Boycott Homphobic Straight Porn Star Flash Brown

He is already getting work, steady work on one of the interracial porn sites. We are not suggesting, that straight porn isn’t homophobic, but that doesn’t give him, or any of his reps, the right to send an illegal cease and desist letter. He signed a model release form.

Plus, the whole thing with his wife going on gay forums and posting that he is straight, she is his wife etc is ridiculous. He also feels the need to have it on his Model Mayhem profile - yes, that’s his prerogative, but who goes to such lengths?

And how do we explain him reaching out to gay fans to vote for him, then turning against them, when he won the award, he so desperately wanted?

I am quite familiar with the straight porn world AND the black straight porn world too. I have been on sets, I know several straight male porn stars etc

He is not the first to be featured on gay porn blogs, some of the bigger names, are still on my blogs. None have ever reacted this way. It’s not like he did a gay for pay scene, they were just solos.

This is not the first instance of this kind of BS, he was given the benefit of the doubt, before. He has issues.

In any case, we are only doing what he wants. He doesn’t want to be featured on gay porn blogs, or sites, so we are granting him his wishes.

Re: Please Boycott Homphobic Straight Porn Star Flash Brown

Wow. Is this coincidence or what? I just did a post on Flash Brown yesterday. He’s been getting a lot of hits and I can see a sale or 2 coming pretty soon from him. The man is smoking hot.

Pardon me for saying this, but since the post I did represents Black Stud Society, I think hearing this from them in particular is what will get me to pull the post down. Or do you own Black Stud Society BlatinoStorm? I’m not being rude, I’m sincerely asking if you own that site. If so, I’ll take my post down.

I agree. This is quite ridiculous and yes, certainly not the first straight model to react this way after doing a solo or gay for pay shoot for a gay site. I really don’t get it at all though. All Flash did was a solo. It could have been featured on either a gay or straight site. Ludicrous.

Re: Please Boycott Homphobic Straight Porn Star Flash Brown

Don’t understand why you removed the post. You should just have left it. He doesn’t own the content and unless you hear from the producer or site owner I wouldn’t worry about it. But he does seem like a total wanker.

Re: Please Boycott Homphobic Straight Porn Star Flash Brown

Yeah, unless you’re sending him traffic to a site he actually owns you will only be hurting the content owner. Not likely to be the model… In fact won’t you be giving him exactly what he wants by pulling your posts?

Re: Please Boycott Homphobic Straight Porn Star Flash Brown

So let me get this straight Blatinostorm - Flash contacted blog owners himself and told them to pull down his media? He can’t do that. That’s blatant harassment if I’m not mistaken.

Unless I hear from whomever owns his content, I’m not pulling down his post. If he harasses me, well…we won’t go there. The content no longer belongs to him. He signed a contract and that’s that. This isn’t his decision.

Re: Please Boycott Homphobic Straight Porn Star Flash Brown

No, I don’t own BlackStudSociety.

I took the posts down because I personally couldn’t justify promoting a dickhead. When I started promoting him, he was pretty much unknown, he gained a lot of gay fans from my blogs and then decided he wanted nothing to do with “homosexuals”(after pleading with them to vote for him, so he could win his award).

I know he had no right to send a threatening email, or to request his posts be taken down, and I told his “attorney” that. The whole thing just left a sour taste in my mouth, so I decided to take them down, but to blog about it, so the numerous fans he gained could see him for what he truly was.

My decision wasn’t based on money, more on my personal beliefs. Hopefully, the ensuing dialogue, which wouldn’t have happened, had I not blogged about it, has made a few out there, like him, think.

I certainly respect your decision to take down your own posts of Flash and can see your point. Like me, you have principals and I can definitely relate to that. Good on you

However, I’m a bit more spiteful. LOL. I actually see it as more productive to leave his posts up in order to show him for the hypocrite that he might be. Unless he has the legal wherewithal to demand his solo shoots not be featured on gay blogs and sites, there’s nothing he can do about it. He did what he did and now he has to live with it. He has to take responsibility for his actions just like the rest of us.

Well…I hope he can find peace within himself some day. It definitely sucks that he took advantage of the gay fans so he could get some notoriety and then turned his back on them. This world is full of people like that unfortunately.

Re: Please Boycott Homphobic Straight Porn Star Flash Brown

I agree.

Without knowing every detail (not that I want to), it still seems to me you are only helping this guy and potentially hurting the producer(s).

I would still have kept his post up + added some information before the original post about the story behind this and how this person tried to bully you into removing it. It might even make you more sales because of his “drama”.

In the end of the day, he is a nobody. Just yet another “straight” guy needing some gay cash.

Re: Please Boycott Homphobic Straight Porn Star Flash Brown

Just not my style and there are enough hot gay men and “straight” guys, who aren’t homophobic to promote. As I said, it’s not about the money, or loss thereof. My traffic is exactly the kind he can profit from, when he launches his site and releases his DVD - I’d rather not be of any assistance.

As far as hurting the producer(s) is concerned, I still promote the sites, just not those scenes - others will.

There’s a whole bigger picture, I’d rather not go into here, but let’s just say, I did what I thought was best for me and the very many young black gay men, who look up to me.

Compare that loser’s attitude with this straight porn actor:

Re: Please Boycott Homphobic Straight Porn Star Flash Brown

It’s not really my area but interesting discussion on who this would be hurting.

Ultimately, by taking down content featuring this guy you are sending a message to the producers paying him, to him directly, and to an audience who might be seeking his material. Yes, producers who’ve worked with him might loose out a little initially, but already it’s probably causing producers to see him as a risk and potentially unreliable.

I mean, would you hire a guy who might then go out and start harassing people promoting your business?
PR is very important in this field of entertainment, especially when you connect to the gay community in any way.

That guy might not understand this and how damaging it could be, but you can bet the producers looking at paying the guy are now thinking twice. Not only should they be worried about how he might behave once the material is out in the wild, but they should be worried about how simply hiring him might affect their reputation.

That’s a very good point actually. But still feels like he is getting what he want, even if it might be hurting him in the long run.

Re: Please Boycott Homphobic Straight Porn Star Flash Brown

If it was me creating the material and hiring actors/models, the first place I’d be looking is the blogosphere to see how popular they are and what their reputation amongst the promoting audience is.
I know they probably go by industry contacts primarily, but without the promotion the entire process is pointless and a waste of money.

I don’t think this guy has really factored in the damage he is potentially doing to his own reputation.
He should be treating himself as a brand, to be marketed to the people who pay him. He shouldn’t just be relying on them doing all the brand management.

IMO, he’s done a little damage already, and he’s probably loosing business as people are more reluctant to work with him. But I don’t think it’ll last.
As long as he works out that he is equally responsible for his brand and its relationship to producers this will all be forgotten in a month or two.
