I have to ask that if your main goal is to make more money with your site/business, why go to an event like this? Can anyone give a specific example of how going resulted in an increase in sales/profits?
On the other hand if the point in going is just to socialize, drink, schmooze and attend parties then I see why people go.
There is something to be said about having face to face meetings with people. When you bond in person, it has more weight than just over skype, email, or facetime. And over a dinner and a couple drinks, its amazing how the creativity can lead you to something you would never have thought of before.
I don’t go to a lot of the shows, as there is too many these days, and a lot of them, its the same people at most. But I’ve always been fond of the Phoenix event. Its setup allows for a lot of interaction with people. Meeting people you never knew existed etc. The TES show in Prague is the other one that is highly rated by all.
I will be there with Casey and am looking forward to seeing some old friends and meeting some new ones. The Forum has always been a great show for us. As others have said, being able to sit down, have a drink and conversation with others in person really can make a big difference. I propose we all meet at Harry’s bar in the courtyard of the Mission Palms and have a toast to Harlan. Hit me up if you want to meet and I’ll be doing the same. Looking forward to seeing everyone.

Hey all, unfortunately I don’t think I was able to meet any of you. I kept looking for Jay, but never saw him, just a guy or two that resembled him but with different names on their badges. Hope you all saw me, I was the only guy there with a black pork pie hat on. Really sorry I wasn’t able to connect, hope everyone had a great time, it was very productive for myself and the new company I am with.
Guess I’ll make better plans to hook up next time.
