Pay Per Sale vs. Rev Share (again)

I keep waffling on the whole pay per sale versus rev share question. Lately I’ve been thinking rev share is a good idea. But after the topic came up during a night of drinking with Lloyd, I checked my numbers… Here’s the list of rev share sponsors where I did better than I would have with $35 PPS…

Sponsor 1 - 17(s), 43®, 1:1297, $0.06/click, $73.43/sale
Sponsor 2 - 10(s), 16 ®, 1:407, $0.11/click, $45.93
Sponsor 3 - 11(s), 21®, 1:340, $0.12/click, $40.24/sale
Sponsor 4 - 43(s), 67®, 1:497, $0.10/click, $38.58/sale
Sponsor 5 - 7(s), 11®, 1:667, $0.06/click, $38.52/sale
Sponsor 6 - 6(s), 12®, 1:1283, $0.03/click, $36.87/sale
Sponsor 7 - 188(s), 344®, 1:164, $0.22/click, $36.85/sale

Given the number of sponsors I promote, 7 is nothing. That means in most cases I’d do better with PPS. One sponsor recently talked me into doing more rev share saying my PPS traffic would have done better on rev share. But I just took a closer look and I’m only making $26/sale on rev share traffic with them (back to PPS).

Now add into that if the sponsor has cheap trials + PPS the conversion rate will probably be better than if the user only sees full-priced options.

Bottom line, I think going forward if the sponsor offers $35+ PPS I’ll go that route - in most cases it seems I’ll do better, and I get the money more quickly.
