I’m working on a new fetish related blog and have some questions and would appreciate your feedback:

  1. What sites have the most men in leather? I was just looking down the list of all the sites I promote and some have scenes with guys in leather but I don’t have any that are 100% leather oriented. This seems odd considering how long leather has been a part of the gay community.

  2. How do you define “fetish” and what do you think the most popular ones are? I define fetish as a fixation with an object, body part or body act done specifically for sexual pleasure, so my list includes:

  • Feet (probably the most popular)
  • Pissing
  • Fisting
  • Tickling
  • Spanking
  • Sounding
  • CBT
  • Men in suits (like at Men At Play... this one I'm not sure about but that site seems to be popular so I guess there are people who enjoy seeing men in suits having sex)
  1. What about barebacking and bondage: do you think they are considered a “fetish”? I think they’re too broad a subject and not really a “niche” or a fetish but I’d appreciate hearing other opinions.

I don’t consider barebacking to be a fetish anymore. A “fetish” is defined as “a strong and unusual need or desire for something,” so one could still argue that it is a fetish. But when almost every site is offering it, it’s not really that “usual” is it?

Bondage definitely belongs on your site, but I think bondage is also has a wide range of appeal. Some people are into the art of the rope work, Bound Jocks and others are good for that. Others find bondage a little kinky, but don’t necessarily want all the mind games, name calling, or insulting that may come with a heavier scene, so those people will likely be happy with Chaos Men’s Edge series or Straight Fraternity’s “we tied the straight guys up so they can’t run away from their first blowjob.”

An audience looking for heavier BDSM will likely find the above sites quite boring, they’ll be looking for things like Men on Edge and Bound Gods.

In the fisting category, don’t forget dildos. I wouldn’t include every dildo scene, but probably just the ones with massive OMG dildos.

Men at Play is a tough one. Yes, there’s a suit fetish, is it going to sell side-by-side with spanking, pissing, and fisting sites. I don’t know. It’ll really depend on the audience your blog gets. I haven’t had great success with Men at Play and I’ve promoted it a lot. I’d have far better luck grabbing a Sharpie and writing “Visit Men at Play and tell them dzinerbear sent you” on a tie, then throwing it off my balcony at men walking on the street below

Not to clutter up the decision process but you might want to scroll to the bottom of GayMaleTube It has one of the most extensive breakdowns of possible porn niches I think I have ever seen. Now that is a mix of straight, shemale and gay, but it’s worth looking at the ones you feel fit your site and seeing just how many videos they have under that niche category. Quantity “should” be a “this is popular” indicator.

The mistake I made in launching a fetish site was that It was too broad. It’s a gamble, but pick ONE SPECIFIC fetish and stick with it.

unless you plan on being a “directory” of sorts I am agreed “fetish” is too broad a term to populate adequately not too mention “fetish” is becomming more and more micro niched all the time. ( exp. dirty socks , electroshock , etc. ) it’s probably best to focus on one and one that you know and/or have experienced writers/photographers in the fetish.

I’m laughing at your comment on MAP alot of people “don’t get” that fetish just like alot of people don’t get someone tied up … it’s not the rope , it’s the restraint. ( interpreted: I’m not going to reveal the secret of the suits other than it’s similar to golf and scuba diving … very expensive to play! - LOL )

We do quite a lot of double penetrations as well as fisting, huge dildos and some other fetishes. In regards to considering barebacking a fetish, I wouldn’t say so. Bareback is more and more “standard” practice nowadays, even Lucas and other studios that were heavily against bareback in the past do it now.

They work quite well, on the membership site they get full rating everytime and the DVD line support it is one of the best selling lines we have. White twink vs. Hung black seems to be working like a charm :smiley:

Leather is a bit misleading, I would not consider it a Fetish, more like a lifestyle rather than a urge to wear leather… The leather scene often includes BDSM, Domination and many other fetishes. Not sure either if it’s as common or relevant as it used to be. You would also very much struggle to find Leather sites or leather content. Sure, maybe you can find a video here and there with some guys wearing leather but that’s hardly enough to make up a fetish site.

So yes for example wearing leather, latex or rubber is a fetish. However what you mean by Leather isn’t about just wearing leather, i.e. not a fetish. Things like Fisting, Piss, Feet, Spanking, Tickling, CBT, Bondage, SM, Heavy anal play/dildos… and many more… are a fetish. A good way to find fetishes is to look at the old Hanky codes, they include some of the most “common” ones on the gay scene.

I kind of see barebacking as a fetish, but it depends… there is Bareback Light… as in many porn studios filming their sex scenes bareback. But then there is heavy stuff like Breeding, Cum eating etc… I defiantly would say those are fetishes, it’s all about strong urges and desires. Personally I’m not into or feel it makes any difference when normal sex scenes are filmed bareback, i fail to see the point. But I do understand the heavier stuff better and can see the attraction or fantasy in that very much,

Yeah, I agree. Seeing a couple of guys bareback fucking on one of the big jock sites, it’s just bareback sex. But hotel room gang bangs, one guy taking multiple loads, felching, cum eating, that’s more on the fetish side.

I guess you really need to decide what kind of fetish blog you want to be. It’s really no different than general gay sex, there are myriad combination of guys and activities we can cover, but just before you like watching fat men fuck doesn’t mean you’ll enjoy jocks.

Fetishes represent all the different flavours of kinkier sex, just like twinks, jocks, and bears on the non-fetish side. So spanking turns me on, but I’m not much into fisting. And the problem with trying to cover everything is that you may end up with a whole lot of people breezing by, some may see what they like, others not.

Do you like a particular fetish? Or are you just putting up the blog because you think it’s a good money maker? Why not cover whatever you really like? That’ll make for a much more interesting fetish blog.

Thanks for the comments everyone. I have a domain I got a few years ago with “fetish” in the title so that’s why I posed this question. I never did much with the domain before, just putting up some posts about Kink.com sites, but now I plan to re-launch the blog and want to cover some of the most popular fetish types found in gay porn. I’m hoping to pick up some search traffic from the most popular keywords for gay fetish porn. I’ll probably focus on the bullet point ones in my original post. I wasn’t sure about leather, barebacking and bondage but you guys gave me some good food for thought about those.
