Larry Flynt: "Free Internet Porn Will Disappear"

I love this man. A true old school American, they don’t make them like this anymore!

Entrepreneur, Free Speech Advocate, Capitalist, Admitted Proud Pervert…In other words my role model!

Re: Larry Flynt: “Free Internet Porn Will Disappear”

He doesn’t talk alot about free porn, except that it will disappear because people want quality.

They don’t touch tube type of sites which have quality content from all providers free of charge… so… not really sure how that relates.

Listen I do hope too that it will disappear, but I think it will be gone once the big tube sites start closing their free windows and charging for that half stolen, half extorted content that they have on their sites…

I was thinking the same thing. While I do agree with Larry Flint most the time he really didn’t give any facts as to how free porn is going to disappear even though he was pressed several times. Plenty of High Quality FREE porn out their not to mention FREE High Quality Box office movies. Later in the interview he did mention that Cable and Casinos are where the money is so maybe he’s lost focus to the online content issue and is concentrating on where most his revenue is coming from.

Kevin.

Re: Larry Flynt: “Free Internet Porn Will Disappear”

I wonder what a world of NO FREE porn would turn into.

Re: Larry Flynt: “Free Internet Porn Will Disappear”

I’d love to see free porn to disappear or at least be more restricted again, affiliates could go back to promotion through smaller amount of content to tease surfers with, small previews and images… More creative promotion instead of throwing up lots of free stuff with minimal effort. Better yet, having only softcore content available for free and for promo… Only access to hardcore after paying.

But I can’t see it happening unless major sites take a brave decision and minimise what they give out and severely restricts free content, so that the only free stuff left is older content and nothing new. However piracy would probably ruin that. Funny enough a lot of the small independent sites in CCBill that don’t offer any affiliate content is also some of my best selling sites.

No… Can’t really see how it would ever happen.

He is right though, people want high quality, fresh and exciting content which is in very short supply now. At least on the gay side.

Re: Larry Flynt: “Free Internet Porn Will Disappear”

I think he’s out of touch with online porn. Like Kevin pointed out, his cable and casinos are making him the most money. “People want quality” seems to be the mantra we all parrot to make ourselves feel better that we’re having to work harder and longer than ever before.

Yes, people want quality, but they also need quality jobs and wages to pay for quality. We can’t even get the minimum wage increased to a level where people can live something close to a decent life.

People who can afford porn might want quality, but people who can’t afford it will do with the free stuff.

I wish the interviewers had pushed more on the free porn and then shut up with their funny and cute remarks and let the man speak.

I know my bank account would be a lot fatter …

Re: Larry Flynt: “Free Internet Porn Will Disappear”

I admire him, but I think he’s very out of touch with reality and he’s of a generation predominantly unable to understand the internet. Lets not forget that this is by no means a one-man show, he has department heads all reporting to people below him, he doesn’t need to know anything for the rest of his staff to keep the business growing.

I’ll bet that 99% of his (younger and more in-touch) staff completely disagrees with him on this point, because they are the ones actually dealing with the company and business.

The only way free porn is going to end is by businesses being unable to function and sinking. The supply is keeping up with the free demand at the moment, but as companies start hemorrhaging money and seeing ever decreasing profits they will go out of business, content will decline, and the pirates won’t have anything to steal.

Unless something dramatically changes (ie, studios and adult companies STOP advertising with criminals and actively START going after them) in 20 years Hustler will be the only adult company left, and tubes will have nothing to offer other than amateur videos and old scenes, because no one is making anything new.

Perhaps he’s seeing it from a perspective where all the other studios have been forced to close because of piracy, and Hustler is the only one left supplying those who want to pay for quality? Once all the competition is gone, there will be those never willing to pay, fapping over 90’s tube clips, and those willing to pay signing up to give their money to Hustler because it’s the only one.

Re: Larry Flynt: “Free Internet Porn Will Disappear”

All that has to happen is for Congress to pass a law addressing protecting property rights on today’s modern internet - companies that host or distribute copyrighted material should be liable in court so operations like MachoMoe and MyVidster are no longer criminal enterprises operating outside the law.

The reason this problem exists is because producers can’t protect themselves from theft in court. It’s going to change sooner or later.
