I’m doing an “SEO action plan” for a mainstream client and reviewing some of their competitors. One competitor is doing particularly well in Google - they seem to pop up on a lot of different searches. The competitor’s site is a piece of crap - looks awful and isn’t all that usable, BUT they have 2.6 million inbound links the vast majority of which are deep links. This is compared to our client who has 25,000 inbound links - all of which are “natural” (they’ve never done a link building campaign).
I’d like to recommend they hire a link builder, but I trust link builders about as much as I trust a three card monty dealers on Times Square. There are heroin addicts I trust more (seriously). I’ve seen bad link building kill sites - done wrong it’s very dangerous, but done right it can have great results (as the example above shows)…
So does anyone know any reputable link builders? Ideally someone who does both mainstream and porn work…
It’s better to hand choose pre qualified links from Ontolo and give a list for a mechanical turk or odesk to build from.
I’m hoping that nobody was implying that someone be hired to do link building then check work after it’s done manually to see if it qualifies after the fact yikes!
Ontolo, to me, looks like one of these hired guns who shower me with form letter emails daily telling me how great it would be for their vaguely topical website to trade links with mine. Am I correct?
This year, I have gotten significant back links to inside pages on my websites thanks to Twitter. Implement a Twitter campaign. My two cents to those of you thinking lately about SEO.
