Is normal finding EVERY movie boring when you edit it?

It’s going to be a pain. It’s not possible that I find every movie boring when I edit it in Premiere or Vegas. Is it normal? :grrr:

Re: Is normal finding EVERY movie boring when you edit it?

Yes, I think that’s somewhat normal. I’m editing some preview clips right this very moment. I can’t tell you how bored I am. I really should be doing something else on a Friday night.

SSSShhhh! Don’t let your friends outside the business know that porn gets boring! We need to keep up the illusion that it’s fireworks and excitement every minute!

Re: Is normal finding EVERY movie boring when you edit it?

bored? how is that possible? must be the content? - we’re NEVER bored with our content!

Re: Is normal finding EVERY movie boring when you edit it?

Absolutely! I am so sick of looking at the models by the time I’m done editing a video. And even more shocking, I forget I’ve actually edited a video after a few weeks. I was uploading some older preview clips to RocketTube the other day and thought to myself, “Did I even actually edit that video?” as I only had vague memories of doing it. But at that point you can go back and watch the video and actually enjoy it as a porn.

Re: Is normal finding EVERY movie boring when you edit it?

Nice sales pitch Tony.

But do you even actually edit your own videos?

Re: Is normal finding EVERY movie boring when you edit it?

as a matter of fact I edit a lot of our videos and if it doesn’t pass the Tony Boner test, it goes in the trash bin!

sorry guys but we enjoy what we do! you can ask anyone that’s worked with us - its true!

Re: Is normal finding EVERY movie boring when you edit it?

I have a friend of mine that enjoys a lot editing porn video. Why? I don’t know. I find them boring JUST when I edit them. As xstr8guy said, after some time after editing I can enjoy them as port.

Re: Is normal finding EVERY movie boring when you edit it?

Our editor, who does video editing for about 90% of every week, loves what he does but he loves it more for the technical aspects of it than for the content.

He also gets to do a lot of creative stuff with previews and “meet-the-model” and DVD previews and such, which keeps it from being boring… but when he went through recently and re-edited nearly every Boyfunk clip in the archive (some 300 clips), he was definitely getting pretty tired of that after a while. We try and break it up so he’s always got different things to work on, and of course, he shoots a lot of content for us as well.

Back when I used to edit, I would get very bored with it after a while, and the editing got almost mechanical (which is why Pat is re-editing everything.)

Re: Is normal finding EVERY movie boring when you edit it?

I take great pride in my edits and find the technical aspects quite interesting. I also personally love 99% of the men that perform in our videos. But starring at the same 5 minutes of footage for 2 hours and tweaking it endlessly just to get 2 minutes of usable video for the final edit can get quite tedious.

But I still think it’s the best job in the world.

I feel luckier, 35 minutes footage from a 63 minutes tape lol

Re: Is normal finding EVERY movie boring when you edit it?

Lol, no. I was just talking about editing a 2 minute segment of a much longer video. Most of our vids are shot with 2 HD cameras at different angles. So I typically have around 2 hours of total footage to edit into a 20 to 30 minute scene.

I estimate it takes me 1 hour of editing for every minute of finished video. A 20 minute video takes about 20 hours of work from start to finish… not including encoding time.

Re: Is normal finding EVERY movie boring when you edit it?

he does edit them - he sends me the finished videos to encode. and btw, if you know tony, you can see his personality come through in the way he edits.

Re: Is normal finding EVERY movie boring when you edit it?

Editing content is the thing I hate most about what I do and it’s the one thing that stops me from publishing content faster, and more content.

Re: Is normal finding EVERY movie boring when you edit it?

yeah Patti, I guess you could say my personality does cum through! but guys to be totally honest here, its a completely different thing for us than what most of you guys do -

after all, if we’re not directing the footage in a studio with some sensational NON-ROBOTIC models (as people always tell us all the time), we’re shooting the gonzo stuff ourselves

I enjoying the fact that I get to see myself fuck or have some hot stud with a monster cock plow Cam… and that makes the editing work that much more fun… and don’t ask me how I still have time to enjoy life but I do…

I even create much of our own music tracks in Soundtrack - not as much as before - now that takes some time! But the thing I enjoy the most is creating opening titles and end credits when I’m working on a DVD - Any of our editors will tell you that I’m insane when it comes to the title sequence - my best to date being BAREBACK MASTER, INC. (our first) and DIAL B FOR BAREBACK (#20) - I should post a clip here sometime (when I have an extra few minutes)…

I picked up my insane love of opening sequences from my former boss who INVENTED the “title sequence” and created many memorable sequences from PSYCHO TO GOODFELLAS, to VERTIGO, to CASINO, WEST SIDE STORY (end - there’s nothing up front)… and working with him off and on for close to 25 years had some effect on me - of course, if he were alive and new I were doing porn and not the industry stuff, well… I’m not so sure about what he’d think! There is no question that Saul Bass was the best! and those were some of the greatest years of my life.

20 hours? Crazy! Well… wait… I spend about ten hours with just one HD camera. Yes, it makes sense now.
