Introducing Myself

Heya Fellas,

My name is Jason and I’ve been an adult webmaster for about 10 years now. Started off in the game as a sys admin for a small hosting company which sold after a few years. During that time got to know my customers and launched my first TGP, the rest is history as they say.

My Sites
I’m new to the gay area of adult so I’ve started off with a TGP (http://www.exboyfriendz.com) and an MGP (http://www.gaymoviesex.com), the formats that I’m most experienced and comfortable with. My partner and I do run some big blogs, directories, and “babe dumps (example: http://babeunion.com)” though from what I’ve seen from your guys sig links, these types of blogs/sites may not exist in the gay adult arena… may have to change that

That being said, I have yet to really make my way through the various gay networks out there, I’m working on it though :).

why i’m here
I’ve been looking for a good webmaster hangout for a few months. Every market in adult seems to have a different set of rules and variations of blogs/tgp’s/tubes. I’m not sure how I stumbled onto this board but I’m glad I have, as this looks to be “the place”. Over the years I’ve seen just about everything happen on the net and have used about every service. So if you ever need an opinion or recommendation for services or something, feel free to PM me, I’m always happy to help.

Though really why I’m here is that I’m going to be on the receiving end of that help for the most part. On the straight side of things we have 100’s of thousands in traffic a day, over here I’m a humble green horn hoping to learn how the two differ and hopefully find a way to succeed.

excuses
I’d ask for feedback on our first 2 sites, but honestly they are extremely basic. Dipping my toes in the water as it were. While we’ve been able to generate a solid 12k/day to exboyfriendz.com and it seems to be doing well, these two sites are really just so I can spend most of my time figuring out how to be successful here before investing a big chunk of my time in making a high quality blog or directory (freeones type, not a link list type, i never did get into those). Eventually as I surf around more, we’ll redesign the existing sites so they are hot bitch sexy :). But for now, we’re going with the basic layout. Let’s face it, the surfers are there for the content not some cool looking graphics. Though I’ve found that if I don’t think a site looks awesome, I won’t work on it much, so I end up spending money on making them look good, pretty much to keep myself interested in working on them :bang:

down to the biz
I’d welcome any referrals to programs that you know convert well as well as any other resource sites like GayDemon.

In the meantime, if any of you guys want to trade with my sites, i’ve left the signup forms open and you can find links on mrvids.com, they are auto approved right now until they start getting spammed by sites that aren’t on the up’n’up. And if you’re selling any banner space or links, please let me know. I would be sending direct to my TGP/MGP from the banner spot and have a script that makes the “banner” use the exact same image as my #1 thumb. So when surfers click on it, they get to my site and see that gallery that they clicked the image for, there in the banner is not misleading. I’m all about building quality traffic and I’ve found this way works pretty well in making everyone happy.

this post was too frickin long, can I just ping you?
my icq is 206.206.206 or you can PM for whatever

Re: Introducing Myself

Welcome to GD, hope you enjoy your time here.

Re: Introducing Myself

Welcome, gosh a proper introduction and all! Thanks for joining!

Noticed you mentioned freeones, I always did like that type of directory. I don’t think one exists in the gay side of things.

I’m fairly new to TGPs so can’t say much myself, at least in terms of tradional TPGs. I’ve run one on GayDemon for years but that I don’t skim and only trade on the toplist. I did setup network of TGPs last year (maleidol.com, gayporndude.com and a few others) but they don’t do very well compared to my other traffic… Others on here are successfull with TGPs tough.

However looking at your exboyfriends I think what you might want to study is theme/niche, it feels like a weird mix of stuff content on there. Plus one of the sponsors I wouldn’t personally want to use (the one with the young looking guys). HazeCash is a good start though. Other big solid sponsors (and my own main sponsors) to start with would be Buddy Profits, Kinky Dollars, Gunz Blazing and Intense Cash, they have lots of site that convert very well and offer high quality galleries. There is also a very large amount of great sites on CCbill but it will take more of an effort to find which ones to use and get good galleries from, BlakeMason.com, EnglishLads.com, YouLoveJack.com and CorbinFisher.com comes to mind.

Re: Introducing Myself

GayStoryMan: Thanks for the welcome GSM (is it too early for me to refer to you by an acronym? ;))

GayDemon: I’ve found the formal intro helps out. That way when I pop up in threads and people think “wtf is this guy?” they can check out my other threads and find out wtf I am and make an informed decision on whether or not I’m talking out of my ass, hahaha.

Awesome, thank you for the links to sponsors. I was honestly just throwing darts at a board to find sponsors. I do a lot of business with HazeCash’s straight sites and the same with NastyDollars, so I started off with them. After that I hopped on BoyProfits as I also use their straight program… then I was left with no idea where to go so I just started clicking away on TGP’s and signing up, heh. Thanks for the other links, I applied for them. That’s one thing very different here than in straight, there is no applying for webmaster programs you just sign up and start sending.

I love love LOVE ccbill programs. as I said, we try to focus on quality and in that regard I like to get sites that pay revshare rather than pps. ccbill always pays on time and they’ve been around forever, so thank youf rothose for sure. I applied for corbinfisher as they also came out with a straight college site as well, but have not heard back. If you want to give me referral links for the other ccbill sites, I’d be happy to sign up under you. Most ccbill programs are setup to give webmasters 10-15% revshare for referrals, if you don’t see a mention of a webmaster referral link on their site, just try the usual ccbill linking code with &HTML=http://webmasterprogram.com at the end. Usually worth a shot :). Otherwise I’ll wander over and sign up for those on my own.

Thanks for the feedback, I really appreciate it on exboyfriendz. I agree, it’s kind of a hodge podge. I’m trying to make it the brother site to http://exgirlfriendz.com which has done very well for me the last couple years. Of course, that doesn’t mean it will translate into other markets, but worth a shot. With the helix sponsor, have they been in trouble in the past? I definitely don’t want to get anywhere near that.

Re: Introducing Myself

Hi Jason,

First of all welcome to this forum. I think you are right about gaydemon being “the place”, at least for the gay side of the adult biz. You’ll find a great mix of affiliates and sponsors and I think most of us are very helpful and open (especially compared to some of the straight boards).

I have to say, you really know how to write a good introduction

It’s kind of obvious you have started out with the programs you are familiar with from their straight programs. While Haze Cash and Boy Profits are converting very well, I think you’ll learn that some of the programs that are run by people who are gay themselves will do even better. I agree with Bjorn about Intense Cash, GunzBlazing, Buddy Profits and Kinky Dollars and I would like to add Blueloot (Randy Blue), Suite 703 (owned by Naughty America).

Since you LOVE CCbill sites, you should give Chaosmen, Sean Cody, Spunk Worthy and Butch Dixon a try for sure. Lately, Corbin Fisher doesn’t seem to accept new affiliates… so I wish you luck with that. You will notice that a lot of things in this market differ from the straight side of the biz. Not saying things are better or worse, just different.

Although I am gay, I love to check out freeones from time to time. The site is very well done. I don’t think there is a gay version of freeones, however a lot of gay websites are using a similar concept.

I will hit you up through ICQ or through PM soon to talk about traffic trades.

Good luck!

Re: Introducing Myself

Excellent intro!

I can’t really say much on Sponsors with regard to conversion rates as I’m just starting out with blogs myself. I’m more of a written content guy.
But I have to agree on favouring CCBill!

This is a great place to find some excellent info and help on absolutely everything. It’s a great crowd. You’ll definitely do well here, and with posts like that I hope you’ll be really active!

Re: Introducing Myself

Hi Jason welcome to GD

Nice work on those sites!

Re: Introducing Myself

awesome, I had not seen blueloot or suite 703, if you want to PM your aff code I’d be happy to signup under you. and I’m definitely checking out all the ccbill sites mentioned. Their weekly checks work well with my need for near instant gratification :).

we tried to do a freeones type site once as well and it would just seem that window has passed, so we have this as our model by name directory: http://nud3.com which I have the domain hunkz.com reserved for our male version of that site. It would focus on gay and solo male content. Unless someone could provide me with the argument that male straight pornstars are actually searched for, which I just doubt would be worth the effort to catalog. Who knows

Re: Introducing Myself

Hey welcome to GayDemon Jason! We do not get that often new comers on the board who introduces themselves that properly! BTW you should put a little Signature at the bottom of your posts so we can be reminded of who you are.

As for me, I represent well-established gay websites like Videoboys, Jeremy Roddick and Squirtz. Most of our websites are in or around the american twink niche. We are also using the reliability of CCBill for our transactions and our Affiliate ToolBox will give you the whole spectrum that you need to promote our sites.

If you’re not already signed-up to our program, I urge you to pay a visit to our website, or to send me an e-mail. We also strive on creating custom promo campaigns, so if you need anything tailored to your website, give me a shout.

Re: Introducing Myself

Thanks for the tip Jeremy, got that sig in there. I think I tried to set it up right when I got here but it was disabled until I had x amount of posts

I signed up for BonoboCash and I’ll be sure to get some content on my sites this week. I shouldn’t need anything taylor made just yet, need to get traffic in the door and figure out that end of things and making my surfers happy before I spend too much time on optimizing conversions.

I’m sure we’ll talk soon enough after I get everything sorted, Thanks!

Re: Introducing Myself

Welcome to GD Jason.
You might want to check our program at our www.emoprofits.com
We are the only emo/alt gay porn program around, and our flashship site HomoEmo.com was the worlds first gay emo porn site.
Would be great to get you on-board. I think you would do really well with our sites.

We also have an amateur site ExposedEmos.com which I think would fit your ExBoyfriendz site perfectly!

Contact me if you wan’t to talk about anything more. I think the idea of a gay version of FreeOnes is awesome. Would require some good custom programming but I could see a site like that being very successful. Welcome to the gay market!

Re: Introducing Myself

ExposedEmos looks like it would fit for sure. Is it only available via your NATS program? I just signed up for the ccbill aff program and I don’t see it in there. I’m a fan of ccbill, that’s why I joined there first.

Re: Introducing Myself

Hi Jason.
CCBILL was our old affiliate program from before we moved to NATS4.
If you would like to push ExposedEmos through CCBILL I can get that setup for you but it may take a day or 2 as the site is currently not approved with CCBILL.
Let me know and feel free to contact me on ICQ.

Thanks
Sam

Re: Introducing Myself

jesus talk about making an entrance…

welcome to the board dude…

Re: Introducing Myself

Hi Jason

Great intro and welcome to the board! Bjorn has already mentioned us (thanks Bjorn!) so if you need anything to start promoting simply send me a PM and we’ll jump right on it.

All the best,

Adam

Re: Introducing Myself

Just to threw a few more sponsors at you

Pridebucks with 4 sites (reps post here)
Bel Ami (reps post here)
Czechboys (reps post here)
Standahead Programs (reps post here)
Boy Fun Collection

Also, good idea to search the names or programs to see what has been said about them, good or bad. ya know, things like if they pay on time, have issues or are super helpful.

And yeah, acronyms are fine, even after 5 posts lol

Re: Introducing Myself

samebb: no worries, i’ll sign up via NATS, thanks!

Mickey / Adam: thanks for the warm welcome, I’m definitely going to check out those sponsors.

I have to say, pretty great community here. Makes me want to get a blog going asap since there isn’t much of a TGP/MGP presence. haha.
