We had a sticky introduction post running a while back and it was quite good fun to follow. So we thought it would be worth starting a new one. Even if you introduced yourself before, please do it here as well!

Traffic Generation, mainly through reviews, link list and blog post. But also in more recent years through a couple of tube sites.

How long have you been an adult webmaster?
I started around 1999 on a very small scale with GayDemon.com, it’s original purpose was to maintain a page with my own favourite gay porn sites. Bookmarking back then wasn’t very effective or easy to use and finding good porn was quite difficult. It was also a way for me to learn web design by figuring out how to actually create such a site and maintain it. I did learn and expanded it over the years, adding reviews and then a blog in 2005/2006.

What do you think of the adult industry ?
The industry on a whole is quite good, there is always a few bad eggs but once you learn to avoid them or how to spot them, it’s not so bad. I think it’s the same no matter what field of business you choose. It’s also a very creative area to work in as you constantly have to change and develop to stay on top of it, be it types of traffic to design trends. I’ve also made a few very good friends over the years through porn which I have the benefit of working with. I think the biggest downside is probably the stigma with working in porn and the constant attack from people outside the porn industry, wanting to either to close it all down or heavily regulate it. Often the same people who would want to rid the earth of homosexuals.

How long have you been an adult webmaster?

Since the Internet was nothing more than two tin cans connected to a third. Around 1996 I think, but the memory ain’t what it used to be.

What do you think of the adult industry ?

It isn’t an easy business and seems to be constantly evolving, which isn’t a bad thing really. Keeps an old codger on his toes. At times it does seem like a rather self centered business, where nearly everyone seems to have an angle to push, or an agenda that isn’t about honest business relations, but more about trickery and thievery. Still, there are some damn fine people fighting through all the bullshit and muck and mire, which makes it all fun, and worthwhile.

Frankly It’s a love/hate thing, but for the most part it’s fun. It is also one of those businesses, where you need to concentrate on the task at hand, and requires a great deal of time, committment, in order to eke out a decent living. As long as there are people like Bjorn who give a whole lot to this community and business, it’s a business worth spending time in doing.

What do you think of the adult industry ?
tough to say. highly competitive, cutthroat, intense. i could go on, but there are some great things about it, lots of room for growth and opportunity. end of the day, its fun and powerful as an industry. influence it has on everyone can be seen, whether its technology or bree olsen being on the cover of playboy. the ones that hate don’t understand it as a business. and business isn’t for everyone is what i’ve learned.

Gay paysites and free sites

How long have you been an adult webmaster?
I started in 1996 with my first straight site and then did some gay paysites. I started doing free sites and made more money off those at the time and sold the paysites. I purchased IntenseCash around 2003 and started doing paysites again. I started BrokeStraightBoys in 2004 which has become my flagship site. Last year I acquired http://www.justusboys.com and http://www.collegedudes.com.

What do you think of the adult industry ?
The adult industry changes constantly. You have to keep up and innovate to keep up with the competition and new technology. I feel fortunate to be able to work from home and make my own schedule and it’s something I don’t ever take for granted. I’ve made some incredible friends in this industry and I love what I do.

How long have you been an adult webmaster?

I began my career doing ‘site reviews’ for Adult Check back in 1999, and after about 6 months was promoted to Product Manager for their gay products. In 2001 I quit at AdultCheck and became a full time Webmaster, creating mostly AVS sites and Producing and selling Asian content. In 2003 I got into the paysite business, mainly focusing on the Asian niche and created our flagship sites, Japanboyz.com and Boykakke.com. As our Affiliate Program grew, we continued to add more sites and partnering with different studios.

What do you think of the adult industry ?

All I can say is, what other business would let me live anywhere in the world, work the hours I want, and have the freedom to be creative as much as the adult industry? I feel very fortunate to have met some truly amazing people along the way, and while of course there have been some bad experiences too, I look at it all positively as I’ve learned more about business from porn then any University or school could teach.
Your Speciality/Niche:
i have researched the hell out of a lot of niches, and specialize - if you can specialize in so many niches - in muscle, uncut cocks, hairy men, hairy pussies, grandma porn, grandpa porn, big dicks and feet.
How long have you been an adult webmaster?
i’ve been an adult webmaster since 1996, and have worked in adult for more than 25 years.
What do you think of the adult industry ?
it’s a lot like most other industries - there are ripoffs and honest people, companies that are slow to pay, people who really know their stuff, people who act like they know their stuff. on the other hand, in the u.s. and some other countries, adult has more legal challenges than some other industries. i’ve made some very good friends in the industry, and it’s always interesting

How long have you been an adult webmaster?
I started out in mainstream (gay news / lifestyle / nightlife) in 1999. It was in 2004 when I started my first adult site.

What do you think of the adult industry ?
I love this industry. There have been some difficulties over the years, but I am sure I would have faced a lot of these problems in any offline company as well. It’s part of running a business. I love to work from home and be independent. It’s a freedom that not many jobs can offer. Constant changes are a challange and that’s what keeps this industry interesting. I have made great friends over the years and I love how open and honest we can talk about business and share experiences.

Apart from the stigma with working in porn, people often think it’s an easy job. They think I hardly do any work, because they see me going to the beach on a sunny day. They don’t realize I make up for those days, by working weekends, evenings and even nights. Or people ask, what’s difficult about selling porn? - anyone can do that. Well try it yourself, it is not as easy as it seems and it takes a lot of time and hard work (like in any other job).

What do you think of the adult industry? It’s such a creative, fun space. Like everyone who’s posted before me, I hate the stigma and the social repercussions that come from working in the industry, but those are external factors, I suppose. If only porn (spec. gay porn) were recognized as a valid industry and the workers therein not assumed to be, like, lazy and horny slobs…alas, I dare to dream. :stuck_out_tongue:

Re: Introduce Yourself - Resurrected!

Name/Nick: Tam - that is my name, no nick

Company or Self employed?: MediaRevenue

Your Primary URL: The Original Rude Bitch - my only site

Your Specialty/Niche: I do well in a lot of niches, but my best and most successful has always been amateurs or sologirls. I’ve worked with just about every niche and have experience in many of them, although not the more obscure ones like midgets and things like that. But I started out as my own content and I am very amateur, it’s what i know and what I do best.

How long have you been an adult webmaster?
I started out in July of 1999 as a birthday present for my husband, he wanted to see me on his favorite site, Wife Lover’s, not even sure if it’s still around. But shortly after this, I seen on a show on TV how much money people were making in the adult industry and I needed to work and help him pay the bills, but I had health issues and no one would hire me. SO, I thought “I know html, how hard can this be”, I soon realized I knew less than nothing about html, but muddled my way thru it, and didn’t have money for domains, content or anything, so I was my own content… and soon after, I started a posting board of my own and it somehow turned into women being the aggressors and men being the content, not even sure how that happened but it worked. lol A sponsor of mine at the time sent me a check that should have been for $54 and he sent me $854, I called him and let him know his mistake and he hired me on the spot… and let me keep that check. So I was hooked. lol

What do you think of the adult industry ?
I think it is what you make of it, like anything else. It can be very bad for you or very good for you, but it’s what you make of it for your own needs and means to an end. If you live your life in a positive manner and try and always do right by the people you work with and surround yourself with then you are going to do good in anything. This also goes for my experience in this industry, I try and just keep a positive thought and know that it can always be worse. I have noticed an influx of fraud and this worries me a little, as it does with anything else, but things happen and you learn to roll with the punches, change as times change and move forward as the industry moves forward. If you can’t change with the change, you are sunk from the start.
