Dominic Ford Launches KeepFollowing.Me

Everyday, members of the adult industry are having their accounts on Twitter and Instagram shut down. Messages from people in the community saying “@X’s account was shut down, everyone go follow him/her at this new account: @newX” are becoming more frequent. So are messages from performers saying “Follow my secondary account in case this one gets removed.”

KeepFollowing.Me, created by Dominic Ford, aims at solving this problem. The way it works is simple. A performer sends out a link, saying “Click this link to keep following me, even if my account changes.”

When a user clicks that link and logs in via Twitter, they are registered in the KeepFollowing.Me database and their connection to the performer is recorded.

Then, if performer X’s account ever gets shut down, KeepFollowing.Me can automatically subscribe the user to X’s new account, or notify the user of the new account. That way, the performer regains all his/her followers almost instantly.

The system is launched with Twitter. Other social media platforms are being considered (such as Instagram and Tumblr).

KeepFollowing.Me is free for consumers to use. If and when a performer needs their followers converted over to their new accounts, there is a fee, currently set at $100 per every 20,000 followers.

Models who actively use the JustFor.Fans platform, however, get this service entirely for free.

The application’s site is KeepFollowing.Me. The system will work with all models eventually, but initially will work only with models on the JustFor.Fans platform. The systems are tightly integrated and all options can be found in a new settings page on the JustFor.Fans platform specifically for KeepFollowing.Me users.

If turned on, the JustFor.Fans platform will automatically let customers know about this new feature on the model’s pages.

Importantly, consumers do NOT have to be on the JustFor.Fans platform in order to use the KeepFollowing.Me service. So, performers can tweet out the KeepFollowing.Me links to their entire user base, not just those who use JustFor.Fans.

Creator Dominic Ford says, “Our industry is constantly under attack from the companies and services who use us to help them grow, and then try to get rid of us once they’ve grown. It is my mission to provide tools and services to our community to try to mitigate these attacks. KeepFollowing.Me is a way to maintain social connections beyond a singular social media platform or account.”

Eventually, KeepFollowing.Me will be able to be used by models to send messages to all their subscribers across all social media platforms via an email messaging system or internal messaging system.

Models will not have access to their followers’ personal information. It will all be handled through the KeepFollowing.Me application.

Love what you have been doing, great stuff. Keep it up!

Is there a feed (or a page I can scrape) where I can pull performer names, their past account handles, and their current one? I try to track Twitter and Instagram accounts for pornstars, but they get shut down / change pretty frequently. Having an authoritative list would be really helpful. You clearly have the data and given your relationship with them, your list would be authoritative.

Oh, and adding their JFF URL to that feed would be a huge help as well!

Since you have performers as a captive audience, it might help to stress to them to keep their profile pic and header pic on Twitter PG-13. I see SO many people get their accounts shut down for that. One day I spent most of the day going through my follower list and sending DMs to each one that was in violation warning them. But it’s an exhausting exercise.
