Does this Patreon page have a potential to be profitable?

Here’s a little bit unusual question. About a year ago I made a little experiment with creating attractive looking military men with the help of the currently existing free AI graphic generators. You can see the results in this post:

At the time it seemed to me that that post was pretty popular among my blog visitors, and that they liked the images. So I was kinda encouraged. Over time I managed to learn more about AI graphic generation and now I am relatively skillful at this, although I know there are still a lot of things to learn.

While browsing Twitter I stumbled across several accounts which obviously serve as promo pages for Patreon pages which also have similar softcore erotic content created by AI. Although most of them do not display the number of their members, I managed to see that some of these Patreon pages have around 600 (or more) members. Even if the membership costs only about $5/month to join, you can easily see a certain potential for profit.

The problem with my content is that perhaps it is too focused on just military guys. Apart from several shirtless muscular guys, there is no real nudity in my content. On the other hand, other similar Patreon pages have either more softcore erotica or even explicit pornographic images where you can see the genitals of those AI generated men.

I created my Patreon page several weeks ago, but from Patreon itself there were very few visitors - and zero likes or new members. Here is my Patreon page:

patreon.com/aimilitarymen

I thought that things would improve if I created a Twitter page where I would promote that Patreon page, and I did that a few days ago:

https://x.com/aimilitarymen

But still nobody seems to even notice it, let alone like or join.

What is your opinion about this kind of content? Do you think it has potential to be profitable? Perhaps it just takes more time to become more widely known? Or, on the other hand, perhaps it is a very narrow niche that just won’t sell no matter what, and I am just deluding myself?

I have a lot of authors with Patreon profiles who submit stories to GayDemon. I speak to them regularly and they all say it’s really difficult to build up followers and traffic to Patreon. It requires a lot of marketing, posting content on other sites, creating blog posts… much the same as you would when promoting a porn site. Some make money though, not major amounts but yes some.

I think you need to have a external page promoting them with teasers and a lot more text.

It might also be worth creating text stories around the images, like a comic book.

AI is a difficult one though, some people like it others really hate it.

Thank you for your insights and suggestions.

Yes, AI is tricky and not everyone likes it. I know a French based porn site that has been using AI to create a part of their content for about 1 year now. Previously they used only real humans as their models, but since they started using AI, although it was all really realistic looking, I see a sharp decline in sales for that site.

I think it is a mistake to mix the content made from real humans with the AI content. You kind of pollute and cheapen your previous work, not because those AI images are bad, but because not everyone likes the AI created images and videos. Also, it is as if you are disrespecting the real humans that served as your previous models in the past.

Personally, I think that AI generated images and videos do have a future, but it all needs to be treated with more care. What you mention about textual descriptions and perhaps whole stories is something that I have been also thinking about.

However, with all that said, it is discouraging in a way that such ideas are so very difficult to realize. It is also discouraging that Patreon pages are so difficult to promote and that it takes so much effort to make them profitable.

There is so much erotica and porn with real humans now floating around as free content (and since a few years ago also a deluge of AI generated images) that the really quality stuff has become kind of submerged and invisible with all that free trash. Quite a distinctly different situation when compared with the late 1990s and early 2000s.

AI porn is probably more like a niche, it just won’t appeal to everyone. It could be its own thing but also if its done more comic / cartoon like it fits under that niche which has it’s own followers. But you’re right, pushing it together with real models is probably a mistake, at least at this stage when its still possible to spot the difference.
