"Curing" Gay People? There's an Apple App for That. UPDATED

“Curing” gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender people? Yep, there’s an app for that – unless we can convince Apple to get rid of it.

Re: “Curing” Gay People? There’s an Apple App for That.

The level of insanity in this world never ceases to amaze me… good grief.

I signed the petition, added it to my facebook where I have over 900 friends and added it to my site. Not sure I can be of a great deal of help, but wow… just wow. :bang:

Re: “Curing” Gay People? There’s an Apple App for That.

Someone should really make a porn about this. You know those little camp outs are nothing but giant orgies. LOL

Re: “Curing” Gay People? There’s an Apple App for That.

Damn, they have beaten me, cause I’m still working on my app to turn straight people gay.

On a serious note, this is insane and I think Apple will set this “straight” soon.

Re: “Curing” Gay People? There’s an Apple App for That.

hmm, they dont allow porn but they will allow this kind of crap… good lord!

lol, I knew it!

But yea, this is nuts…the bad kind

Re: “Curing” Gay People? There’s an Apple App for That.

every time I like less Apple, you can not show any tits in any Apple App, but you can cure the homosexuality, what’s next? promote the burka in the apple store?

Re: “Curing” Gay People? There’s an Apple App for That.

All big companies are the same, be it Google or Apple… Once they might have been dynamic, open minded and had ethics but as soon as they become big multinational corporations with shareholders all that goes down the drain. Their owners turning a blind eye and feeling better about themselves by giving away money to some “3rd world charity” just so they can sleep easy at night.

It’s such a tiresome world we live in, a bit of sex or naked flesh scares the shit out of people, yet they have no problem with making others suffer. I’ve never understood what’s so dangerous with getting pleasure from something as basic as sex.

Amen to that.

Re: “Curing” Gay People? There’s an Apple App for That.

There are SO many things I could say about this. I started a rant, but decided to erase it. There’s no reason to give that damn company any more link juice or free publicity, so I won’t.

I signed the petition. I’m flabbergasted by this to say the least. No one should be able to get away with this shit. Killing is ok, as long as it’s in the name of ‘God’. Put two men or women together having sex and it’s a horrific sin. And this being the 21st century. I dread to see where the world is headed in the next 50 years. I really do.

Oh, but if you believe the crazy right-wing nuts out there, we can already do this just with the power of our minds!!!

The whole thing reeks of hipocricy. They remove apps of adult content (while allowing high-paying companies like Playboy to continue), and then allow something truly hateful like this?

Two years ago I said Apple had lost their understanding of their market. And that Google had no right to cling to their “Don’t be evil” tagline too, incidentally. And both keep doings things to support the idea that they are just corporate whores lol

Re: “Curing” Gay People? There’s an Apple App for That.

I just got this in my e-mail …

Dear Michael,

Amazing! After more than 150,000 petition signatures from Change.org members and saturation media coverage, news outlets worldwide are reporting that Apple has pulled an iPhone application launched by Exodus International that claimed to help “cure” gay and lesbian people.

This is a huge, public victory against the dangerous myth that gay young people can and should be “turned straight” – a falsehood that contributes to the plague of depression and suicide afflicting these kids and young adults. Our friends at Truth Wins Out, the organization that started the petition on Change.org, are absolutely thrilled.

Apple did the right thing because an incredible 151,125 Change.org members – including you – stood together to demand it. We spread the word on Facebook more than 55,000 times. And together we attracted the attention of media around the globe, including CNN, MSNBC, Fox, ABC, CBS, and hundreds of newspapers and blogs.

It’s simply amazing. Thank you for making this victory possible.

Tangentially related . . . a friend of mine develops simple iPhone apps. He made one that was a simple card game, but he couldn’t get it approved. Like Google, Apple gives ambiguous reasons for their decision. The message he received was that the card game was “inappropriate”. yet this got through.

Even though it never should have been approved, I’m glad to hear it’s finally gone!

Thank-you everyone who signed the petition.
