Chase Bank Is Shutting Down Accounts Held By Porn Stars

The taxpayer-bailed out Chase Bank appears to have decided that folks who work in the totally-legal adult film industry are no longer worthy of holding accounts with the institution. Though legal money is legal money, hundreds of people who earn a living wage in porn have been sent letters from Chase advising them to find a new institution because their current bank accounts under the famous blue logo will be void as of May 11, whether they like it or not.

Sure would be nice if the billers would release a statement saying that they were going to start declining sales trying to use Chase credit cards.

Fair is fair.

Paxum Offers Porn Stars Snubbed by Chase Bank a Free Alternative

Paxum, a leading alternative payment service for the online adult entertainment industry, has offered the porn stars affected by the recent Chase Bank account closures the opportunity to sign up for Paxum services free of charge and receive a free Paxum Payroll card.

“We disagree with this kind of abuse. At Paxum, we welcome adult performers of all kinds,” said Ruth Blair, Paxum’ s business development manager. "Performers should not be forced to suffer penalties and financial difficulties purely as a result of their career choice.”

Chase Bank has reportedly sent out letters to hundreds of porn stars notifying them that their accounts will be closed on May 11.

While not a bank, Paxum is a global e-wallet money services business that enables verified clients to send and receive instant payments, as well as withdraw those funds at ATM’s worldwide with the Paxum Payroll card.

“We invite all adult performers who have suffered account closures at the hands of Chase Bank to sign up with Paxum and use our services completely hassle free,” Blair added. “We can help you get paid without fear, prejudice or abuse. "

Paxum is currently used by several large adult companies, including Mindgeek (formerly Manwin), GammaE, Vivid, Playboy and others.

All banks are evil however clearly some are more evil than others…such as Chase.

I currently have 2 credit cards with Chase that I will be paying off and cancelling. When I do this I will not do so via email or telephone but with a good old school letter. It is amazing how a tangible piece of paper still has an impact in today’s electronic world.

I suggest others do the same.

Bravo!

It’s too bad that we work in an all-about-me industry. A full-on boycott of Chase is the only appropriate reply. Not just from individuals cutting up their cards, but sites, studios, and billers refusing to do business with them.

But this industry is full of pussies who keep staring at the bottom line and hoping the bad stuff will go away.

Well said Michael. We can only hope that one day “before” the shit gets too deep, that people in the adult entertainment industry will get tired of being shit on.

Re: Chase Bank Is Shutting Down Accounts Held By Porn Stars

In the UK, when I tried to open a business bank account with several banks (HSBC, Lloyd’s and others) they all refused me due to my behind honest it was an adult business. The second time I tried again, saying I was just an ‘Web Marketing and Hosting Company’ servicing web clients, and showed them a ‘mainstream’ looking company site. They gave me an account with no problems.

They are probably just closing the obvious targets. Not saying it makes it any more right, and I wouldn’t open a Chase account myself based on their actions, but I don’t think what they are doing is that much different from most of the big banks (they just seem to be ‘enforcing’ their anti-adult policy harder than the other banks do).

Best I think we can do is not bank with them, although I still reckon it will barely cause a blip on their radar screens as they are pandering to the over-zealous regulators.

Re: Chase Bank Is Shutting Down Accounts Held By Porn Stars

Like Danny, I think that Chase Bank is just open en honest about it, but most other banks are doing the exact same thing, when they find out about your business. My brother in law works for a bank and has always advised me to hide any links to the sex industry, cause the bank doesn’t want to be involved. Internal policies say that employees can’t open bank accounts for adult companies. It’s funny (or actually sad) that this same bank makes money from the weapon industry.

Banks force us to lie about (or hide) what we’re actually doing, but if that’s what they want… fine. My company is registered as an ‘online marketing company’ which isn’t a lie of course.

Re: Chase Bank Is Shutting Down Accounts Held By Porn Stars

with reference to this and the other thread about CockyBoys payments, the most recent cheque I got from CockyBoys was drawn on JPMorganChase Bank … so if you have any CockyBoys cheques lying around, better cash them quick!

Re: Chase Bank Is Shutting Down Accounts Held By Porn Stars

Oh great, another reason for affiliate payment delays.

Unless those porn stars have been doing bad things with their bank accounts, i.e. bouncing cheques, Chase really has no business closing their accounts. There are all kinds of mainstream businesses that are involved in devious, sinister, and underhanded activities, but the banks don’t bother them. In fact, banking is one of the sleaziest industries out their.

Take the Holmes on Homes renovation show. Every week Holmes helps homeowners who have been ripped off by contractors who didn’t do what they said they would or took off with the customer’s money. And yet, I’m sure those guys all have bank accounts and could get others quite quickly.

Re: Chase Bank Is Shutting Down Accounts Held By Porn Stars

Funny isn’t it. Banking institutions who’s probably caused more harm, suffering and loss than any other type of company take the moral high ground. I fucking hate banks. It’s as close as you can come to pure evil in this world, anything that’s harmful to our planet or our well-being always leads back to a bank. Yet they get to judge us.

Re: Chase Bank Is Shutting Down Accounts Held By Porn Stars

Amen to that … my life (and home) has been turned upside down by Chase actions and now some other credit accounts/cards I have are slowly being “taken over” by Chase.

Re: Chase Bank Is Shutting Down Accounts Held By Porn Stars

It’s ironic that they are canceling porn related accounts for “moral” reasons when the entire banking system, by Biblical law, is considered sinful.

"Usury (/ˈjuːʒəri/[1][2]) is the practice of making unethical or immoral monetary loans intended to unfairly enrich the lender. A loan may be considered usurious because of excessive or abusive interest rates or other factors, but according to some dictionaries, simply charging any interest at all can be considered usury.[3][4][5] Someone who charges usury can be called an usurer, but the more common term in English is loan shark.

The term may be used in a moral sense—condemning taking advantage of others’ misfortunes—or in a legal sense where interest rates may be regulated by law. Historically, some cultures (e.g., Christianity in much of Medieval Europe, and Islam in many parts of the world today) have regarded charging any interest for loans as sinful."

Here are 43 Bible verses condemning usury:

http://www.openbible.info/topics/usury

Morality is the reason we get stuck paying third party billers 15% for the pleasure of processing our transactions. “High risk” accounts is just a euphemism for “sinful”.

Re: Chase Bank Is Shutting Down Accounts Held By Porn Stars

Banks – they launder billions of dollars for drug cartels, but they draw the line at porn. Because morals.

Re: Chase Bank Is Shutting Down Accounts Held By Porn Stars

Yes indeed. Rather amusing isn’t it?

Sometimes you just wanna tell people to “clean their own doorstep before shoveling shit on mine.”

UPDATE: Wells Fargo accepting accounts from porn stars.

http://www.xbiz.com/news/178426

Tuesday, Apr 29, 2014 Text size:

LOS ANGELES — Money may be considered the root of all evil, but not where Wells Fargo bank is concerned. Jumping on the opportunity to do business with adult after Chase Bank’s move to shut down porn industry workers’ accounts, Wells Fargo is offering a friendly port in the financial storm.

TMZ reported that the banking giant is welcoming all porn stars that claim Chase has shut them out.

A company representative told TMZ, “Of course we encourage these industry workers to come to us with their business and we will gladly help them.”

Even though there may be a new home for porn money, the stars haven’t taken the Chase slam lying down.

The Daily News reported today that performers Veronica Avluv and Teagan Presley — who have already moved their accounts to Wells Fargo — have taken to social media and are bashing Chase via their substantial Twitter accounts after falling victim to the lock out.

“I’m just upset and still in shock it’s even happening. I’m not doing anything illegal,” Presley told The News.

Presley’s husband, Joshua Lehman, who also had his personal and business accounts closed, including Skinworxxx, said, "I’ve heard three different reasons. When I went into our branch, they said it was the nature of our business. When I called, they said they were closing my personal account because my wife is an ‘infamous’ adult star.

“When I talked to my branch again, they said it wasn’t because we were in the adult industry but because we did business with a convicted felon,” Lehman said.

Despite frustration over trying to fight the giant financial institution, Lehman said he and other adult industry folks have contacted industry lawyer Michael Fattorosi to explore possible legal action.
