California Age Verification.. another state about to join

So California wants to join the ranks of states like Texas, requiring Age verification for any explicit content:

I’m still not sure how you force every porn website to comply with this, it’s obviously different for websites everybody knows like PornHub, etc. but if you have one man blog or small website like millions of others, how you force them to comply? What they do to me if I don’t? They will send me to California and execute me there?

Legend has it you will be legally required to attend California and made to sit on a giant cactus, if you can take the whole thing and survive your free to go, after implementing age verification… No details of the cactus dimensions have been disclosed as of yet…

On a more serious note… My guess is they will (as the UK is planning… or not in the case of the UK… who knows???) to get ISPs to do some of the “enforcement” by banning access to sites without the age verification, why they cannot reverse this and just make ISPs ensure that those who have access to adult sites are 18+ I will never know.

One man, one cactus you say? Sounds familiar

Well, an ISP would be one thing, but still… how do you monitor millions of websites? I think there are different numbers on how many pornographic sites actually exist, but it’s definitely in the millions. Not only is it not about “protecting” anything or anyone, but the whole idea is completely idiotic even by government standards.

So funny

Actually, the unknown cactus dimensions is quite a accurate allegory…

Monitor? You mean as in the government, I don’t think they will. The way I understand it they just make way for legal avenues of going after sites should anyone want too. So basically you might have some religious groups or “concerned parents” suing some of the big sites for huge amounts of money. Rather than the government doing anything. Isn’t that how many things work in the US?

Because the votes of lazy parents are far more important than the civil liberties of a perceived minority of people who enjoy adult entertainment.
