Been working hard on my foreskin blog!

I have a membership site, Fantastic Foreskin, and now I have a companion blog. I’ve been working on posting regularly for about the past three weeks. I’m really liking the way the blog is looking. I haven’t been doing much hard-selling on it (yet), choosing instead to make it a place of interest to people interested in foreskin. I hope to build awareness about my paysite this way. I’ll also be doing some affiliate posts from time to time.
Does anyone know how I can get more attention for my blog (http://fantasticforeskin.com/blog/)? I know some directories won’t list it because it’s affiliated with a paysite. I’ll keep doing good content, getting links, word-of-mouth and search engine mojo, but I’d like to speed things up a bit.
Any advice is appreciated.

Re: Been working hard on my foreskin blog!

I’m happy to list it at my link lists: gaydemon.com, bestmaleblogs.com and gaypornengine.com.

You’re already using twitter and facebook to help getting some sharing going which is great… So not sure, I’d just try and get it listed here and there. The worst that can happen is that they will decline your listing.

Re: Been working hard on my foreskin blog!

Well, I’d ask your affiliates and friends, to do a post mentioning the site, on their blogs, which gives you some incoming links. Not the typical post, about latest release etc. More of the blogs that are personal, less spammy etc, if u know what I mean.

Re: Been working hard on my foreskin blog!

Thanks for the advice Bjorn and Gaystoryman. Much appreciated. Good to know I’m on the right track.
Thanks for taking the time to answer!

Re: Been working hard on my foreskin blog!

I actually faced the same challenge few months ago. I started a blog for my paysite Videoboys and I would say that I’m not still quite sure to grasp every little details to make it work. I know that I got a lot of comments regarding content. Original, unique content and texts and I guess I still have some work to do on that. Also I’ve noticed good sources of traffic coming from posts I’m making to other services like Bjorn’s GayDemon Wired and Charmants for exemple.

One thing I’ve noticed on your blog (and I don’t know if it’s relevant or not) but there is a huge empty white area when you are starting scrolling down on your main page. Maybe you could spend some time filling it with something valuable.

Voilà .

Re: Been working hard on my foreskin blog!

Thanks for sharing your experience, Jeremy. I guess the best way to get attention for a blog is just consistent content that people want to read.
I’ve got to check out GayDemon Wired and Charmants. Sounds like they could really help.
Are you seeing a blank space at http://fantasticforeskin.com/blog/ ? I’m just seeing Ethan Roberts getting ready to wash his foreskin in the shower!

Re: Been working hard on my foreskin blog!

He could be talking about all the whitespace on the sidebar

Re: Been working hard on my foreskin blog!

White space on a side bar is not necessarily a bad thing.

Re: Been working hard on my foreskin blog!

Explain if you don’t mind. I could see why some “space to breathe” would focus the attention of the visitor on the main core: the blog posts. Sometimes blogs are getting a little bit too much Time Square for me. But if you have other reasons to leave blank areas I’m all hears.

Re: Been working hard on my foreskin blog!

Yes, I think what Jeremy is referring to is the empty white space in the sidebar after the Fleshjack ad. I have the same thing with GayPornarama, though the amount of stuff I have goes further down than yours. Still, after a certain point, if they’re scrolling down all the way to the bottom, there’s lots of that white space. I tend to agree that it might be better to have it on the spare side instead of being kind of Times Square-ish.

I can recommend both Gay Demon Wired and Charmants, as both do bring lots of traffic after I submit something. Besides those two, you can also submit to these similar sites:

Male Sharing

Men Are Hot

Just so you know, GDW, Charmants and Male Sharing will send you an email when/if your post is approved: Men Are Hot doesn’t, so you can just check in a day or so to see if your posts are up there. Also, all four have different ways of doing things, so feel free to contact me if you need help with them.

Finally, I saw this thread and have been meaning to suggest that you might want to set up a separate Twitter a/c just for the blog – especially if you use it to become an affiliate for other sponsors. That way you can tweet about your latest updates at FF as well as your posts with content from those other sponsors. As for FB, I’m not sure I’d bother doing a separate page for the blog.

Re: Been working hard on my foreskin blog!

Thanks so much, Rob Rushmore! Very helpful as usual. GDW, Charmants, Men Are Hot and Male Sharing sound like a good way to get some buzz for my blog. Also, I get it about the white space. I’m not so worried about that side bar. It’ll be filling up pretty soon!
I noticed you were doing some different kinds of galleries on your site. They look good.

Re: Been working hard on my foreskin blog!

I am impressed Robert. You really have been doing a lot of work on it. I was impressive, and I agree it affords the consumer an interest and comfortableness with it. It doesn’t matter to me if a dude has forskin or not; but it did interest me that I would be looking further; and since you have the “know how” I would stick with you rather than going to a bunch of other site.

Re: Been working hard on my foreskin blog!

while viewing your blog robert an reading a part of the story, I had an idea. Back in the mid 1990’s a book was being written on the internet (HOUSE OF LEAVES), finally published in book form. What was interesting was that they guy who began the project just to remain on the net, ended up with a bigtime seller; and it is still selling.

I wonder if see it possible to, at some point, to begin a story, an let people add to it, They would become really invested then in your site; and talk builds on talk and friends are joining specifically for the blog/sex erotica writing, to express their own sensuality, male competition, yada, yada. Does that make sense to ya?

Let me know what you think. have a good one buddy

Re: Been working hard on my foreskin blog!

Mike: Thanks for the comments. Very constructive. Very encouraging!
As for the the crowd-sourced fiction, I love the idea. I could get a ton of people to contribute to some great uncut erotica!

Re: Been working hard on my foreskin blog!

I thought I’d add something else here after getting the latest update, well done on the duo shoot with Ethan Roberts and Kieron Knight! It’s great to finally see some duo action to promote and I’ll be shocked if I don’t get some sales from that.
Everything about it is great except for just one thing… you don’t actually show the docking in the promo pics.

You’re really getting everything in place and I commend you on that, but I really think you’ll do better with some more close-up action pics rather than posed from a distance. The main thing with the foreskin niche is that guys want to see it, close-up, in all its creased, sliding and slippery glory!
I know it’s been said before, and maybe you have a reason for not showing it, but I do think you’ll see a lot more sales if you actually show some of the action described in the text.

Anyway, again, well done on the duo, it really is hot!

Re: Been working hard on my foreskin blog!

Thanks a lot, Conran. That’s good advice. More foreskin action it is!
Sometimes it’s hard to know how much to show and how much to tease. That’s why it’s so helpful to get the advice of experts here!

I was a little doubtful at first but your blog is really coming along nicely man!

Re: Been working hard on my foreskin blog!

Thanks, BradBreakfast! I’ve really listened to the folks on here and populated the right sidebar on the blog. I’ve included links to all the reviews the site has received as well as links to foreskin-related blogs. I’m hoping to make the blog a resource for foreskin fans (like me) and convert them to members.
It’s also been fun sharing photos and stories about my site. The numbers are going up all the time.
