Re: Bad sales yeasterday?

I’m thinking that everyone is just tired of the same old shit on the news… and that’s having an effect on the general mood of the nation…

blah blah blah - god, don’t those guys every stop? - housing crisis, gas crisis, food crisis, travel industry crisis, melting planet crisis, flood crisis, California burning crisis, $ crisis, gas crisis - woops sorry, already mentioned that “crisis”…

how about stupid shit talking heads on the fucking boob tube crisis…

they need something to talk about to keep everyone’s attention!

a poll person from MSNBC for Christ’s sake actually called me recently… and put me through about 10 minutes of phone interview

wouldn’t accept the fact that I watch the McNeil News Hour on PBS - that wasn’t in their line up of multiple choice answers to their stupid questions

I just wish they’d cut to some good food fights or something! or better yet, show some clips from some of our fantastic videos… ! we put the best one up today that we’ve probably ever produced and traffic is big but… what’s up? I mean you’d think people would be lined up to get a membership with all our available content and most of the episodes are over 22-25 minutes - that’s a HUGE value - but I guess not huge enough to tip the scales when it comes to other expenses - at least for Americans

Europeans still have no problem spending though…

That’s not true :bang:

Re: Bad sales yeasterday?

I think London pride too is about to happen, so thats another 500,000 people not on there pc’s etc - we too have been down last 4 days, today was normal.

Re: Bad sales yeasterday?

Sales have been very strong for us this week. Tuesdays are usually our slowest day of the week but yesterday was way above average. And today is even better.

Re: Bad sales yeasterday?

Bjorn, we experienced the same thing. I’m convinced there was a processing issue of some kind. Monday’s are usually pretty strong and we had both above average traffic and above average clicks out… conversions were just terrible.

Re: Bad sales yeasterday?

but we have had an insane run on DVDs all of a sudden!

and thank god for “hard” sales… our distributor has been working some overtime and its paying off…

so why is that? people buying our DVDs again? hmmm… its probably because we’ve had them on special - that gives me an idea…

Re: Bad sales yeasterday?

When you consider the relatively tiny number of people who go to Pride festivals compared to the number of men who are potential customers for gay porn (6 % of all males) I find it hard to believe that is a factor.

Re: Bad sales yeasterday?

The question is, is it really 500,000? Manchester Pride claims 250,000 watch the parade and there is extensive hard evidence that it is actually less than 50,000. So you have to take these figures with a big pinch of salt sometimes.

If 6% of the UK population is LGBT that is 3.6m people. Now what percentage of those do you think go to London Pride? Bearing in mind they are all ages and all over the country. You are suggesting that if the crowds are 500,000 that they are all potential porn buyers. I’m sure that is not the case. For a start half will be women. Also either a huge percentage who go are straight or the figure is exaggerated. Because I don’t believe that one seventh of all the LGBT people in the UK (500,000) go to London Pride.

Re: Bad sales yeasterday?

Actually it would be a fifth of all LGBT people not a seventh. Even more ridiculous. And how many people who go aren’t online?

Re: Bad sales yeasterday?

Also to people who think that ‘everyone’ goes to Gay Pride…

What do think is the average age of people who go to Pride? 25, 26? Did you ever stop to think how many LGBT people are aged over 30?

The 18-30 period is just 12 years. However people don’t stop being gay when they hit 30. Most live to be 70 or 80.

The 30-80 age period is 50 years. I don’t know the exact figures, but it stands to reason that there are about four times as many LGBT people aged 30-80 as there are aged 18-30. And I suggest that 50 and 60 year olds are probably more likely to buy porn than 20 year olds.

And we’re only talking about the 6% who identify as LGBT. What about the large number who are ‘straight’ but like to watch gay porn and who would never go to Pride in a million years.

I would guess that a good portion of Pride crowds in large cities are travelers from other states/provinces/countries that don’t have such festivities. And many straight people also attend Pride parades. Here in Dallas, entire mexican families come to watch the freak show.

And every Pride parade I’ve ever been to had plenty of folks over 30. My guess is that maybe you just didn’t notice them.

Re: Bad sales yeasterday?

Thanks, glad its not just me. I think you are right. And I did find out out that at least one large advertiser had and still have processing or account problems.

So yes, pretty sure something must have been wrong with processing yeasterday.

Sales where back to normal yeasterday though, even above average.

 I just want people to think outside of the box and question the ‘received ideas’ and propaganda that is put about by marketing people who have certain vested interests.

A very small percentage of openly gay men and those who identify as ‘gay’ go to pride festivals. Openly gay men are, in turn, a small percentage of the male audience for gay porn. Anyone who runs a porn business and thinks otherwise doesn’t know their customers IMO

Re: Bad sales yeasterday?

I agree totally, people who go to Gay Pride is a minority. I dont think I even know anyone who goes to Pride anymore.

And if you then consider who looks at gay porn its even a smaller minority of those who would ever attend gay pride.

For myself and people I know, we all went a couple of times when we where younger and new to the scene, but after that it looses its attraction.

Re: Bad sales yeasterday?

Just to add on to JD’s Comment. We had a normal day with CCBill, but sites that use their own system or Epoch were all way off for us. Monday is almost always our highest sales day, but this week it was the lowest day of the whole month and then some, but like I said, it was a normal day for our CCBill master account. That is what led us to believe it was a processing problem.

Re: Bad sales yeasterday?

Exactly what I found as well. CCbill was fine, but most other “systems” seems to have had issues, NATS systems possibly. Just a bit too much of a coincident.

Re: Bad sales yeasterday?

Second half of this month has been weird. Some really great days and some horrible days. I am normally right in teh middle all month.

Re: Bad sales yeasterday?

I seem have had the reverse. The start of June was bad and the last part has been better. Overall a below average month for adult. However I have had my best-ever month for Adsense on my mainstream sites.

Re: Bad sales yeasterday?

Odd isnt it, there is no clear patterns the last couple of months, maybe even this whole year. It seems not possible to even blame bad sales on anything like the economy etc… One person has a bad sales week another doesnt, or if adult is down, mainstream is up…

Very odd indeed…
