Are your promo pictures big enough for an iPhone?

I’ve been working on planning out a mobile site and was sorta shocked when I saw the screen dimensions of the iPhone 4. I knew it had a better screen than previous iPhones, but didn’t realize how much better it was… It’s 960x640 pixels. The previous iPhones had only 1/4 the number of pixels - 480x320.

So it’s sorta funny that most sponsors put out promo pics that aren’t even big enough to fill the screen of an iPhone. If you’re doing small promo pics it’s time to give out bigger ones…

Re: Are your promo pictures big enough for an iPhone?

That big… but aren’t everything tiny then? I thought the screensize was set to 480x320? damn it… I have to go back and redesign my mobile site then! (not that I finished it anyway).

Re: Are your promo pictures big enough for an iPhone?

I’m confused… I checked specs for my Ipod Touch and it’s also got 960x640px, yet the design I’m working on fits ok on that screen resolution even I designed it to 480px width. (both horiz or vert). How does that work…

Why does a design set to 480px fill the entire screen if the screen is 960px?? Am I missing something obvious?

Thanks for the chat and checking it on your phone. Looks fine, that’s all that matters!

Still doesn’t explain why a 480px design fills the entire screen perfectly when Apple says its 960px… (not zoomed in).
