Alexa's Site Demographics

I was looking at Alexa yesterday and noticed they now have demographics on each site. Not sure how long it’s been there - I mostly just look at the site rank. It’s interesting to see what they say about different sites…

rawtop.com seems to attract the 35+ crowd and curiously not just from home - from work as well. The male / no children wasn’t a shocker.

That makes me wonder how I can attract a younger crowd - or even if I want to attract a younger crowd - I mean older guys would have more money to spend, right?

JUB seems to have the youngest demographic profile which makes me think the forum with it’s interactive nature is what attracts a younger crowd, but then again QueerClick has a young demographic profile as well and I don’t think they have a forum. So maybe it’s an emphasis on young pretty boys that draws a younger crowd. Maybe I show too many hairy daddies… But then again, do I even want a younger crowd?

Below are some of the ones I pulled…

Re: Alexa’s Site Demographics

The younger demographic is far less willing to pay for anything having been brought up in a “free” society. Unless you have some way to monetize that traffic, I would steer clear of that bunch. EMO boys spend too much money on their hair to have cash left for subscriptions or VOD

Re: Alexa’s Site Demographics

OH and before anyone brings up the 18-24’s paying for ITunes and Xbox Live as an example of the younger generation being willing to pay for something, just be reminded that the vast majority of purchases are Christmas & Birthday gifts to them paid for by the 35’s - 54’s.

Re: Alexa’s Site Demographics

Yeah - JUB - for all their traffic, didn’t monetize for us at all!

Re: Alexa’s Site Demographics

Well after checking out some of my own demographic stats (thanks for the reminder Rawtop), I’m happy to know that most are in the 35-44 age group. I also notice that many access my blogs/sites mostly from work. Interesting. Hell, I’d love to find a job where I get to look at porn all day. Hey, what a minute. I do! Ha!
