My boyfriend’s cousin who lives in a loft in SoHo and has plenty of friends with what many would be consider to be “ideal” lives said his friends are using a new word - “staycation”… It’s a vacation where you stay at home 'cause you can’t afford to go anywhere. Apparently “everyone is doing it”.
Of course, the $27,000 they spend to have their kid go to a private school for kindergarten might have something to do with it as well! It’s just convenient to blame it on the cost of gas.
The point being that if people like that are affected, then we can hope others are staying at home and consoling themselves with $30/mo porn memberships! Guess we’ll find out soon enough.
I hope so, I have to say Im loosing the will to live will sales, or lack there off. I seem to be working twice as hard and not seeing harldy any increase, in fact im seeing slow sales. Ive set up with a couple of new sponsors so Ill see if that helps. If not ill pick out my carboard box and nice place to put under a bridge with the other homeless guys!
I’m expecting a lot of people will be staying home this long weekend. And with lots of them doing Pride last weekend, they may be in for a little R&R in front of the computer.
i have been doing good with sales, all week, even the 4th, and i have been asleep through most of it got some kind of wierd bug and just couldn’t wake up
Funny how easily Brits forget about the 4th of July… lol
(I know, you’re not really a Brit, but it seems to have worn off on you… Then again I have a hard time remembering Canada Day and my boyfriend’s Canadian.)
Sales are weird this weekend. One group of sites in particular is selling like crazy (in the last 2 1/2 days I’ve sold about a 1/3rd of what I sold all last month with them). Other sites are doing OK or a little slow…
we’ve had a good weekend in member sales and brick and mortar as well - and, our community has done extremely well in spite of the “gas crisis” - all hotels and restaurants have been packed and lots of people are paying cash in stores and using debit cards
plenty of people shopping too and carrying bags around town… that’s always a good sign…
oh, and in spite of the doom and gloom in the housing industry, our area has seen a good, strong increase in sales - mostly families leaving the big cities to the north and south for the greener pastures of the central coast where housing is more affordable… (as long as you can stay clear of the burning forests!)
go figure - why do we tend to stay ahead of the trend? let me see, where’s my crystal ball for eco-friendly energy alternatives…
our June sales figures are now in front of me and DVD sales were extraordinary for the month - truly amazing! always pays to run a special “june pride month special” - gay men do buy DVDs…
I did just over half what Id make working full time at the job I quit to do this. Nice huh…
But I launched 2 new sponsors and both got sales pretty quick. I know you shouldnt get too excited until youve sent 5k of hits but its a positive first sign.
