Questions about hiring an out-of-town model

Re: Questions about hiring an out-of-town model

Sounds like things are very different over there in the US with you guys compared to here in the UK.

Although the UK isnt as big as the US, we’ve often had models travel long journeys to get here and often had them stay over, or models stay 1/2 nights if they have a few shoots to do. I can honestly say that we have never had any major issues with models staying. The guys here always respect the fact thats its a home and the worst is that you wake up and walk into a messy bathroom and all their beauty products all over the shelf, or walk into the guest bedroom and there are clothes everywhere, but I expect that when Im working with guys 18-22 as a lot are still teenagers and by nature they are a messy breed.

With the escorting issue, very few guys who do porn here escort. They are totally different things and the majority of guys who do porn that we use really look down on it and wouldnt even dream of trying so thats never an issue. Again drugs, not an issue over here.

Often when we go out after shoot, we take the guys with us but make sure they dont get too drunk or do anything they shouldnt be doing. I think maybe the culture over here is just very different. I’m actually quite shocked to here of some of the negativity about having models staying and the issues some of you guys face.

Re: Questions about hiring an out-of-town model

Just to add a little bit of legalese into the advice here: I don’t know which state you are based out of, msm, but if it’s California, you need to be careful. If the guy you’re flying in is also from California (just a different part) then you’re fine, but if he is from out of state, there is something called the Mann Act, which makes it illegal to pay for someone to cross state lines to perform a sex act. The legal way around it is to have the model pay for his own ticket but you reimburse them upon arrival (this also cuts down the cost of flaky models too). Many companies (even ones not based in California) have this policy. Of course there are California companies that pay for their out-of-state models’ flights, but they are doing so at their own risk.

Re: Questions about hiring an out-of-town model

Very true. You can also (I think) do a “loan.” Where you loan the model money to buy their own ticket. When we do travel shoots, we only bring in existing models. You have to trust them. We sent a model money, considered it pay for previous work. The model bought his own ticket. Again, you have to really trust that model or your out of the cash. But we used incentives. For example when we were in california in July filming, we brought the models out for the 10 days we were filming. We promised them sightseeing, beaches, clubs, high model pay (for the 10 days of photo shoots and filming), things of that nature. (We didn’t lie, we really did) Just a thought, I don’t see it being successful should you not know the model.
I’m sure there are loopholes around the Mann Act. Also, nobody would know “I think” unless you got investigated on records or a model created a huge stink about it.

Re: Questions about hiring an out-of-town model

Interesting about the Mann Act (appropriately named?) since I’m certain that when those midwest wrestlers were in the news for the shoot they did for Fratmen awhile back, they said they were flown out to CA "all expenses paid’. I thought Sean Cody and Randy Blue do that too but I could be wrong.

Re: Questions about hiring an out-of-town model

The Mann Act applies to child exploitation, child pornography, prostitution & illegal sex acts NOT the production of legal, non obscene, pornography.

18 USC 2421
18 USC 2422
18 USC 2423
18 USC 2425
18 USC 2427

The production of non obscene legal pornography is a first amendment protected activity in America.
