Bravo! My first advise is you’re in the right place, don’t hesitate to ask whatever questions. I feel certain your project is something we could all learn from.

Re: Help with starting a new site
I hope you do stick around and share the process with us.
I don’t know if you could tell but I’m really interested in seeing how this process works for someone in your position, with that audience there. I’m fascinated by the modern social media business model and really think this could be a great way to go.
I was reading an article a couple of days ago about Grumpy Cat. Would anyone here consider Grumpy Cat’s owners to be webmasters? Probably not, but they’ve made $99 million from what started as a YouTube channel and quickly became a brand. They never built a website in their lives, but they’ve made almost $100m on the internet.
Then there’s guys like Joshua Armstrong, he actually works in IT as I understand it, but I don’t think he considers himself to be a webmaster either. He has his own site and focuses almost exclusively on Twitter for promoting himself - and from what I understand he’s doing pretty well.
The business has changed dramatically from the days when it was all about making your own site, being a webmaster and selling something. Today people are focused on sharing that content, getting it there on a site is now probably less than 5% of the work, sharing it across multiple platforms to reach thousands of eyes is where most young professionals are focused.
Re: Help with starting a new site
I often feel the bar has been lowered with respect to quality, and what consumers are willing to embrace. I got involved in a discussion on another board regarding the current value of images in porn, due to the increased interest in video, and certainly given the quality of video on tubes, it’s the aspect of free that will have people spending time looking at porn and not so much the aspect if HD. Also with respect to that topic I’ve noticed many programs are now offering screen caps in lieu of images, so as there may be some merit in that discussion, I don’t think images are on the out, not totally that is.
We see where WP and other site builder programs have made it easy for the average Joe, not much skill involved in set up and such, and now to a lesser degree the term webmaster holds lesser of a meaning. Everyone’s a webmaster and everyone and their brother can take pictures and video at any given moment, which is what you see the majority of times on the news, the home video or more specific the handheld device video.
I saw a program a while back that was going from major advertising agencies discussing marketing techniques, catch phrases and such. ‘Got Milk?’, ‘Where’s The Beef?’, go down the list, ya never really know do ya and one can never really predict. Give consumers what they want and tickle that one specific funny bone and you’re in, it’s simple yet quite complex at the same time.
Re: Help with starting a new site
I agree that video is definitely leading the way now, and that’s the primary reason I switched our main blog from images to video. The delivery system is there and developing at an incredible pace, and this could be a great thing.
IMO, tubes are not keeping up with the developments in video content. That’s a good thing for us and the adult business. Sure, someone can get a grainy old video from ten years ago on a Tube site for free, but that tube site isn’t delivering the quality new tech is capable of, and it just looks even worse than it did even five years ago.
As phones and TV’s become more capable of delivering amazingly clear content, and as tubes stick to the same old model (cheap and simple) it gives affiliates and pay sites the opportunity to deliver a higher quality experience.
Something I’m really paying attention to right now is the development of 360 video. We really need sites to start developing content and a proper platform for that. Just a couple of days ago I saw a new 360 camera with 4K capability, half the size of all previous models and with only 3 lenses. Delivered to the viewer on a 360 capable site that would be a potential game-changer.
I predict that in the next few years we’ll see some of the biggest names in porn going down the app route and delivering 360 video content directly to hand held devices.

Nice, very positive attitude conran, the same could be said for cam shows.

Thanks
It’s hard to be positive about the industry sometimes, but there are little glimmers of hope that I think a lot of us miss among the tsunami of doom and gloom.
