I don't like the word fag. Nothing nice about it at all and never heard it used in a positive way either.

It's a derogatory term, but we're using it, so it's okay. Is it? I don't know.
They do exactly the same thing here in the UK. According to TV and Media in general all gay men are screaming camp queens. I don't think they can cope with the idea that most of us are just normal and undistinguishable from a straight man (other than dressing better).

    Absolutely agree.
I've never been one of those to "fit in" to please others, so when I see guys who are over-the-top camp I tend to steer clear of them. There are those who are naturally effeminate, but I sincerely think they are very rare, most seem to change their personality to become what they think a gay person is, supported by the media stereotype of homosexuality.

I once met a guy through a friend who was a really nice guy, just a normal attractive guy, very interesting and opinionated. We dated for a couple of weeks and then he got into the gay clubs and everything changed. Within a week he was wearing tight vests, leaving a trail of glitter in his wake and the most important topic of discussion was STEPS.

His assimilation into the collective was complete.

None of the guys I've ever had relationships with ever fit that stereotype and they've all been non-scene too. It's not by accident, the club scene is just a small sample of gay culture in the UK. I would say that 80% of us don't really suit that stereotype and we'd much rather just be regular, interesting, normal guys who "happen to be" gay.

It's not a word I ever use myself nor it is a word I like, but I do have one shall we say 'campy' gay friend that, when with the group of other gay friends, will occasionally say something like 'Okay faggots, let's go' but he says it in a tongue in cheek manner and obviously not in an offensive way. Sometimes I have mixed feelings about 'words' and think maybe it's good when we can take the piss out of them amongst ourselves (similar to the way the black community does with the 'n' word). However, when it's used in a derogatory manner (such as it is on the website this thread is about), then I agree with your sentiments 100% as would anyone but homophobes and perhaps the most self-loathing gay man.

And what if a member of this board/forum was actually involved on some level with that website? What a "kick in the nuts" that would be!

It's not a word that I ever use not even lightheartedly and definitely not one I would have ever thought of to use in searches... but I'm stuck on "who the hell does" and certainly "is" according to Google Insights.

Wasn't there a porn video series produced called "Gag The Fag" and didn't Treasure Island do "Feed The Fag"?

Yes Sir on both accounts! And I found myself somewhat offended by the use of the term. And when looking at the video clips from the Gag the Fag series, I found myself wanting to click away about 10 seconds into the previews. I'm sure there is an audience out there for that type of content, but not my cup of tea.

Yet, I see a lot of search results for the "gag the fag" coming to my site(s) where that line (page) is featured. It might not be my cup of tea, but if it makes me money, I'm in.
