Productive Adverts?

What have you found to be the most productive type of banners? Has anyone had luck with using Text only ads? A mix of both? Are there other types of ads that works better than the traditional types?

I also remember reading that ads which are non standard sizes work better as they are not automatically discarded as ads?

Quite keen on text ads myself, but not been able to get reliable stats on how they do compared to standard image banners.

Yes you are right, most ad blocking software will block the standard 468x60/80 ads. I have had really good luck with what we call 'Photo Ads', they are pics with the site banner at the bottom, like this:

I had my guy make up a whole bunch of these for every one of our sites and have been using them with good results. And I always upload these into our nats for all our affiliates to use.
