I guess the more people who use it, the more the hackers will attack it.
Wordpress 2.8.4 is now out, that fixes a security hole, in which a smart person can by pass the security check, when seeking to reset a password for an account.
Generally it looks for the first account, which is usually the admin account. It then resets it, giving them access to your blog.
One reason to update, plus to insure you have a secondary admin account set up, plus the htaccess in wp-admin to limit access to it.
Good luck :bang::bang::bang:

thanks, will get these updated today!!!
Ya know, I installed WP for a couple new blogs to get some fancy plugins, but these upgrades are a total pain in the ass. I am seriously thinking of ditching those plugins and moving my WP blogs to Blogs Organizer.

Hey guys,
I don't understand the updates. I do exactly as they say. Delete old folders and reupload the new ones. When I got to mysite.com/wp-admin/upgrade.php it always says there is nothing to upgrade. But when i go to my dashboard, it shows it's the latest update. Is it how it's supposed to happen?

Has anyone noticed a blast of blog comments from Russia ? I have my Wordpress settings to allow me to view comments before they are posted. Some of the comments were just gibberish like an automated program was trying to hack in. But some of the comments actually made sense and were appropriate.

If the db isn't being updated, then this is normal. These current rounds of updates are generally core files rather than any new db tables, or such, which is why using the upgrade.php shows nothing.
Why they simply can't list the pages, and provide them, rather than going through the whole routine of delete, then upload is beyond me. Course it could be due to multiple pages being updated (core files) that this is easier, but not like they tell us. :bang:
