Upgrade to each new series of wordpress, and don't leave it till you are a couple of series behind :bang:
I decided to upgrade my main blog Gay Talk (http://www.gaystoryman.com/talk/) last night, did all the precheck stuff, uploaded the new versions of many of the plugins. Only thing was, it was 2.2 and I was going to 2.5. Oh my aching head :grrr:
My biggest grief was that the automatic upgrade doesn't seem to work when going from 2.2 to 2.5, so had to do it manually, which meant backing up the database files, tables and all that crap.
The second biggest headache was I had been using one click installer for many of the plugins and themes. NOT GOOD NEWS.
Seems the blasted install program locks the friggin plugin/theme so it won't upgrade without using it, and deleting the old one, then installing the new.
Lesson Number One > Upgrade each series so you can be lazy and use the autmated upgrade programs.
