seems like more and more people i talk to aren't all that interested in their work. they feel like they do the same old thing over and over, and they don't put a lot of energy into things they do unless they're new.
i notice that people who feel this way tend to have more problems with stuff they overlook, and also that they don't feel as good about work in general. and since most of us work so much.
do you find it hard to do tasks you've done before? i'm not just talking about highly repetitive daily tasks, but things you might do maybe once a month or every few weeks - setting up a new blog or adding a new script to an existing site or something?

Absolutely. However I don't think it's my fault. Simply put, this job is not a very interesting one. It is repetitive and does not offer much challenge (I'm talking about the affiliate side of things).
There is little room for experimenting and the 'reward' is usually in the form of money, very very rarely in the form of spiritual gratification.

Well for me, I find working in porn - on the affiliate side of things - very interesting. I'm always watching movies or reading books and thinking of how to integrate popular culture themes into friskyfans or my blog. For me it's not particularly easy.
But even still, I have to switch gears occasionally. This is why I run some other sites - all subjects that I enjoy, but very different from porn.
There's a broader range of things to follow and keep up with. And then you can also use the different experiences to cross pollinate as well.

I'm relatively new, so I'm still in the honeymoon phase. Though I would agree I don't find porn spiritually gratifying, I'm a bit of a geek so I like the technical challenges. I also like the sociological (?) aspect about it. Meaning, those instances when an unexpected flood of comments are made about a post I think isn't very interesting. Or, the occasional email from super fans.
My biggest struggle these days is the monotony of creating sexy phrases to encourage people to click through. Some days I think, "Please god. No more hot horny studs ready for action."

i guess the reason i don't get it is that i don't find something i do once a month to be all that repetitious - it doesn't really bother me. doing something every day or repeatedly throughout the week is different.
BTW, Teddy, you might consider mixing things up a bit. you'll be less bored and get more clicks out. "hot horny studs ready for action" is pretty generic. "Check out Bob's 10 inch cock" or "First timers show their assholes" might catch more attention.

Burned out? Hell yeah, but usually from a lack of time, worry instead of being bored, about being behind or not getting things done fast enough, but its a scheduling issue, for me anyhow.
Repeating the same old task each day can be boring, but a mix up in scheduling, or approaching that taskdifferently, usually works. I still love the job, just that at times, life & it, can be overwhelming, so a break, a nap, anything to break the routine usually helps me.
but then, the sun doesn't set or rise by my porn interests or work.
