View Full Version : Why should anyone trust AmateurStraightGuys?

Its that time again, AmateurStraightGuys (now Bonerbucks) are sending out emails recruiting new affiliates.

So why should anyone trust them?

For a lot of webmasters including me, it took a lawsuit and over a year to get the money owed by them. This is commission payments they tried to hide, went missing etc.. Instead of course they kept the money. From what I have heard some webmaster still have not been paid.

They still seem to be using their own merchant account through affiliatetracking, doesnt that mean it will just be exactly the same situation where they issue and send out the checks and they might go missing...

I have not been paid. I think I was owed $40-something. The whole episode with Amateur Straight Guys shows me that when the going gets tough, the affiliates are the first to go.

I couldn't be bothered with them, I don't even promote their movies in my "new" list when they arrive in my VOD theatre.

If they paid me the money I was owed, I'd think about promoting them again. But always in the back of my mind, I'd be wondering when the next episode was coming.

I invited them to comment on this thread but will see..

I think it would have at least been easier to consider them again if they used a proper 3rd party billing company like Epoch or CCBill. As long as they do it their own way its just too dodgy.

i agree on this. i had a program that didn't pay me for ages, but they finally got new management and did pay me. once i had been paid, they offered me the option to promote them through ccbill and that did make me feel better about promoting them - maybe i lost 11% on the cascading, but i don't think i'd have felt comfortable promoting them again without ccbill or epoch being offered.

I joined their old program just in time to rack up about $350 in sales before they dropped in the tank. It took more than a year to collect - and was only paid about $200 because their records showed I had already been paid the balance!

Would I trust them?

It's not a matter of trust as far as I'm concerned.

It's a matter of ethics.

Similiar happened to me, but for a larger amount.

It seems they are staying away from the thread. I did ask them to comment but nothing yet.

I wont be trying them. There are more than enough sponsors in this niche that have an excellent record. Why chance one with a poor record? If they had at very least posted here with a list of reasons why this could never happen again (and one of them was that we can have processor payouts) then It might be worth a go if the sales were good. As it stands Id be foolish to try them out.

Thats very true. There are now plenty of other good amateurs sites to promote.

Agreed 100%!

After emails and calls were ignored, we were finally paid by these jokers only after outing them on several other boards. I posted a warning thread on a couple other boards a while back when I noticed their new program was live.

The fact is, their their content did convert very well. It was one of my top sites for affiliate revenue. That of course was short lived. I'd only consider promoting them if they used a third party processor.

I've personally never seen them respond on the boards. I'd be shocked if they made an appearance. It'd be great if they'd come here and announce they are using CCBill or Epoch for their processing...

I will never understand what it is with some affiliate programs.I have read more lately at different places about affiliate programs screwing over their affiliates. Is it really worth it to them to screw people over for more money.I may never be rich, but some things are more important to me than money.Like having some dignity and respecting people. ;)

So just hearing this, I wouldn't give them a second chance.

Even that wouldn't help. They could just terminate all affiliates.

With so many good sites to market, why would anyone market these guys?

The only good reason would be that they had a very good sales ratio compared to most other amateur sites.

Yes. Now that I think about it, they actually did. So did MaleCorps as well.
