Hey all :)
I just want some advice there if I can plz.
I'm currently updating our agency site and trying to decide how many models we should keep on there at any one time - at present we have 60 on there but...
Do we keep a large amount on there or does there come a point where there are too many and its confusing for sites loooking for models etc ?
Do we keep a fewer amount of models which makes it easier for sites looking but can result in model overuse ?
Any comments/suggestions would be appreciated.

Myself, I'd simply have the recent signings, then an archive page that would list all available models, so that it doesn't appear like you only have a few models. Showing the latest, shows an aggressive site, that is constantly adding models, which would make people return often, if they can't find what they want, from what is shown.

I can't see the model pages now because I don't have a password, but I just remember there being a big mash-up of models. Why don't you sort them?
Have a couple of rows of blonds, twinks, muscular guys, etc, so at least potential clients can hone in on the type of guy they're looking for.

is this an agency? if so, you should show all your models or how else will potential clients be able to choose? but you could also offer by category so people can find the type of model they're looking for.

I would show all the models, but my question is how many models, if lets say the agency has 150 models on, is that too many ? should I aim for a lower number

Are you the ForbiddenRed people or the other guys registering new Forbidden"fill in the blank" domains? The models on your sites look familiar.

if you want clients to be able to choose from your 150 models, prospective clients need to be able to see them. it's not fair to some of the models if you don't show them because they won't get work.
why NOT show them all? you don't have to show them all on one page. or like i said, you could show them by category. one agency we ordered some shoots from categorized their models by A list, B list and C list, the A list being the most attractive, and also the ones who showed their personality best on camera. of course, some models might get hurt feelings, so categories might be best.
or you could do what they do on some paysites. you could allow potential clients to sort your model list - say there were 25 models per page, and you could sort them alphabetically, by date added and you could have a dropdown showing what each model is willing to do and another one with attributes such as UNCUT, LONG HAIR, etc.
I would show all the models, but my question is how many models, if lets say the agency has 150 models on, is that too many ? should I aim for a lower number

Basschick - I think maybe you've missed what Im trying to find out. I'm not saying I have 150 models - let me try and rephrase what Im asking.
When does the number of models become too many ? or doesnt it ?

i think you've missed what i'm saying... you can replace that number in what i said with any number and it still applies. after all, whether you have 40 models or 250, what's the point of having models you don't offer to your clients?

I'm not sure why you have ForbiddenRed.net registered on your server if you're not associated with them but thanks for clearing everything up I appreciate it.

Hi
Worth thinking how people go about booking models. Some will have a look thruogh, see a guy they like, check the details and make an enquiry - planning the shoot around how that model would look best. But sometimes you are looking for someone with particular characteristics - eg a black guy, a well hung muscular bottom with red hair and no tattooes.... etc.
So, more is better as long as people can find what they want. You can mannually search a dozen guys, but more than that gets cumbersome. So like basschick says, why not have a search facility - top, bottom, versatile, age range, build, hair colour, location, etc. Exclude solo only (or not). Sort by age. Sort by date added.
Also think its worth making your newest guys prominent somewhere.
If a model is not getting any work, you could take him off. But why not try some new pics and text?

Steve
A search facility is something we have looked at and thought about many times, it is something on my list and maybe when we do the new site, I may hopefully introduce it in.
What Im worried about is adding too many guys to the site and it just becomes a huge mass of models and hard for users to find anything (granted a search facility would go some way towards that) but some clients want to look at every model - if say we had 150 models that could be a painstaking job for anyone.
At the moment I keep 60 models on the site at any one time and as a model joins I removed a model - but my question was is 60 enough ? Does that give enough choice ?

The way I see this, is that you need to provide for your customers, every possible tool, so they can decide who to pick. Some will only want to see the current list, but many will want to see the whole list, or a greater part of the list of models, than what you show, whether it is 30, 60, 90, or 400.
As a business, you need to find ways to accomodate them all, and so a search function allows those who want to search for specific criteria that ability.
You want to have a way to satisfy those who aren't sure what they want, to look at every possible model, so they can choose.
Having a 'just added' page satisfies those who want the latest only, but removing models doesn't make any business sense. You wind up catering simply to those who want the latest, not those who are looking for specifics, or for what isn't shown.
Simple answer is you show them all, use navigation to sent the customer to either the latest, or to the archives. Limiting the number, limits your potential sales. So if that is what you want, then go ahead, put 40 or 50 up and let it be. On the other hand, if you want to squeeze every sale possible, then archive the old ones, have a way to list the new ones, and forget about how many to display.
For myself, a single page with 20 to 30 models, along with some important stats, works, and so what if you have 1000 pages, that is just one more sign of a vibrant company, with lots of options for the customer.
