Some affiliate programs have the choice of having popups or not in the link. I choose not to as I find them extremely annoying and to be honest cannot see how they would actually work.:grrr:

I won't mention any names of course but one sponsor I'm talking about in particular supplies both straight and gay content which I use both of. They don't supply the option of popups or not from what I can see. I certainly may stop dealing with them because of this.

Your thoughts?

I find pop ups annoying as hell and try to opt for the pop up free option when available. I also feel that with so many browsers coming with some form of a pop up blocker, their benefit has to be limited. So why waste the time?

From what I have seen, read, heard, many sponsors say it does generate good revenue, though frankly I don't see how.

It probably does generate slightly more revenue, but its doing so by confusing and trapping people rather than anything else.

What I dislike even more is when they give you $10 or % less for signup without their popup hell.

Its a bit like a shop owner throwing crap at you if you leave the shop without buying anything while shouting at you to visit the shop next door.

Some programs actually dock you money or a percent for not using the popups? I haven't seen that yet but I'll certainly keep an eye out for it. That's underhanded.

Thanks Bjorn

Actually I think most of them do that, which does tick me off :grrr:

I'm sorry I don't have anything more productive to add to this thread, but this made me genuinely L.O.L.

Yes Bjorn nailed it with that analogy. LOL. It made me laugh as well. I needed it too as I had to spend an hour running a spyware check to make sure those popups didn't add any unwanted crap on my machine. So far, so good.
