This isnt a joke, but just freaky.

I had a lot spam on a domain - gaypornengine.com. So i decided to delete all mail accounts and bounce all emails sent to the domain.

I only setup 1 email address xyz@gaypornengine.com (example) and have never used the same and no one would really be able to guess it either or have it on record.

1 hour later, i recieve spam emails to that same email address!

How is that possible? No one knows the email address, its brand new and not a email address that makes sense. The host i use, Gossamer Threads are are a excellent host and a bunch of programmers themselves. They know what they are doing and are just as spooked as me..

it's possible because the spambots always email all normal configurations for email at any domain. perhaps xyz@ is one they try?

yes but this one i used is very random.. just 3 letters in random.

i can see bots using all "normal" types of addresses, webmaster@, support@, cs@ etc but not random letters.

They are certainly getting good at it!

are you sure you don't have an automatic catch all for the domain that makes that address (since it's the only one) the catch all?

Nope, i made sure to switch that off since that caused most of the spam problems i had. Most of the spam is gone now but its just this freaky one that keeps coming through. It just doesnt make any sense at all since its a random email address, just created and never given out.
