It seems that nowadays the 3 top thumb sizes are: 180x135, 200x150 and 240x180.
Old school webmasters are happy with 180x135. An higher percentage of webmasters use 200x150. And few people have gone with 240x180.
In my opinion the only two good sizes if you want make a table with only thumbs are 180x135 and 240x180. With a 1024x768 optimized design you have a "no-scrollable" space of 1000 with max. It means that you can place 5 180x135 thumbs in the same line with spaces and borders. The same happens with 240x180. You can place 4 thumbs on the same line using the higher percentage of usable width.
200x150 thumbs are not so good unless you want put some text in the left or in the right side the table. 4 x 200 thumbs don't fill the usable space and it could affect prod.
