I am finding I am not thrilled by the supposed security aspects it employs, or maybe my damn machine got infected, but it shut down my attempt to upload a picture to a wordpress blog. I hate all this gobbly gook they put one through, to turn off its stupid features, but just how secure does their smartscreen filter & data execution protection really give?

I also wonder, just how many false positives it is giving surfers, because it doesn't ask, it just shuts down the browser. And already, they have it in their FAQ on how to get false positives changed for a website. :bang:

Some of my sites display improperly until the "compatibility view" is turned on. The good thing is that IE itself suggests this as soon as a site doesn't display properly. The funny thing is that all my sites are made just by simple tables and CSS, no javascript and nothing fancy. Why does it have a problem to display THAT properly?

I am not thrilled by the new IE either. Could it be the reason for the big dip in affiliate sales since May 1st?

The guy from BarebackRT had a thread on one of the other boards... IE8 is a piece of crap - probably as bad as IE6. Of the 400 users he tracked with problems, 399 were OK with downgrading back to IE7 or (upgrading) to Firefox.

Between what Microsoft has done to Vista, MS Office, and now IE8 - they seem bent on driving away customers... Apple couldn't ask for more!

it seems that ms has stopped doing the forced upgrade via its auto updater, perhaps they are working on issues that they found....either way, I will upgrade once it comes thru the auto updater.
