I'm just creating a small site for a non adult company (I get my new kitchen cheaper lol), its a pretty small site but the main part of the site is a gallery where their work can be shown (bespoke kitchens).
Is there a small easy script which can mantain just a few galleries with samples of work which is also is easy to customize. For example using lightbox or similiar to dispaly the individual images.
Or, would it just be easier to do static pages if its a small site (100 pictures)?
If the pictures aren't going to be added to, or changed frequently, I think you'll probably do better to just create a series of regular pages without trying to pull in some sort of gallery script. Also, if the pics are to showcase his work, you'll get more mileage out of a site that lays out the photos to put emphasis on one big image, then overlay, or surround that one with 4 or 5 other perspectives of the job. Showing a before and after of a kitchen remodel isn't really going to require 100's of images.
For some layout ideas, try looking online at sites that have cabinetry for sale, like Home Depot, JC Penney, Sears, etc and see how they handle the layouts.

I have been working on doing mouse overs for our new sites. It may be the kind of thing that would work for you.

PS, they come up faster if the big pic is not that big.

i'd just go with static pages myself.
cam, in firefox it sort of works sometimes but not always, and in ie it seems to be an automatically starting slideshow - which is not a good idea for free sites, btw.

Bjorn,
Scripts are easy, it depends on how much maintenance you want to do...
My advice is to simply build a few LONG pages with large images embedded.
The reason for this is that there are so many "spiffy" real estate sites which use oodles of java that most folks can't really appreciate the photos - too many warnings going off.
Long pages - if you want, I'll polish the images so they look hotter than hell...

thanks for all the advice.
I think I probably will do normal static pages rather than a script, the only issue is if they want to upload new pictures. But will see. No matter what script I would use it would really complicate things i think.

Ask Lloyd, he found a cool one, but I forget the name.

That is a cool script if you don't mind some customization.
But i love the lightbox effect on high end sites with small picture galleries.
