View Full Version : Would a solo site with a straight guy sell?

So here's (to me at least) an interesting question.

We have a model who is straight, and I think in this case he really *is* straight. He is pretty cute, has a big dick and nice body.

He is interested in doing porn, but is not really interested in doing gay-for-pay. He's fine doing solos, and he *might* jack off with a guy next to him, and would certainly have sex with girls, but probably won't let his dick get sucked or fuck a guy or even jerk off a guy.

Do y'all think this would sell as a solo site, on the fantasy that the guy is really, truly straight and we're seeing into his world?

I think it would sell especially if he allows another guy there with him
would be great you could call it "Gay Envy" would be quite hot

It might have worked a few years ago. I just think there's too much out there for people to waste their money on a guy who will only jack off. Even the Visconti Triplets are getting fucked now and Next Door Buddies hardly ever has side-by-side jacking any more. Why don't you talk to the straightcam.com guy and see if he can shed any light on this for you. But as hot as he is, I might only watch him jack off twice.

If it is not heavily driven by his personality and interaction with members, I would not expect it to hit big. We have a bunch of guys that have those kinds of sites and they are excited when they hit 300 members (mostly in the 150 range). Solo guys sites have to have a HUGE hook for them to work. Some big names had them and dropped them over the past couple years.

Jeff at Str8Cams.com is an example of a straight guy doing porn for gay guys. Ask him what he thinks of it - he'd know better than anyone and he's easy to talk to...

I wouldn't put all my eggs in one basket (again). Back when I was young and lesser informed.. I had invested all my time in building a site around a hot young dude who already had a webcam fan base. The site got a strong start with his own promotion, but as luck would have it.. his girlfriends found out and the guy bailed. No more site updates.. no more site.

There's only a rare few have the dedication it takes to pull something like that off.

If its just 1 guy I wouldnt pay. I wouldnt buy a membership to ANY solo guy site even if he was my favorite.

but I WOULD buy a membership if the site had a bunch of (truly) straight guys.

Here's an idea...Straight Frat House. or Straight Frat boys gone wild or something.
Get a bunch of straight college muscle guys in a "frat house" and they party and get girls in. They dont play with each other, they just fuck girls. Film it so its very amateur, like these frat guys are filming their buddies "conquests". Bring in a gay guy only to watch so the straight guys tease him like "you wish this was you dont you" something like that. Real arrogant.
Bet it makes a million bucks.

My friend is super into frat guys and another guy was in a similar situation of straight frat house and my friend was going berserk hearing stories about these straight muscle frat guys fucking these girls, so I know it would sell.

There is a niche for that obviously, with Corbin Fisher's Amateur College Sex and to some extent Fratmen.
I don't have any experience with production and setting up paysites, so this is just from what I have seen and heard over the years... but, unless you're a big company that can stand the loss, I would hesitate about setting up a solo site. I have seen so many of these sites fall apart once the model loses interest (or something else comes in the way).

It will sell with the right guy. As Rawtop mentioned have a look at Str8cams.com, his site sells and been around for years.

BUT

He is a bodybuilder, got a ton of personality which shows on the site and in the videos (plus he is a really nice guy) and he also has a lot of content to offer.

If the guy hasn't got the right "big" personality then I don't think it will work. There are a loads of failed solo sites simply because they havent got the passion and personality it takes to carry it off.

I definitely think the market is a lot softer than it used to be, and I agree that a site with one model isn't going to be a terribly strong sell, which is why, if we do it, it will be part of a network of a couple other things we're working on.

This would also ensure that it wouldn't be nearly as big a deal if the guy flaked. We would get a ton of content before the site launched to keep in reserve, and most likely have a deal for ongoing work that makes it worth his while, or both.

I do think the right combination of interaction, cute guy, good personality can make it work. The main question for me was whether a straight guy who isn't willing to fuck/be fucked (at least not with a guy) would have appeal to the audience, and I *think* the answer is yes, if the other factors are there.

Cody Cummings is one such site.

Jeff at str8cams is the PERFECT example of this, he's actually been around for over 5 years now. If you look through his site though you will notice that he does use toys on himself, including dildos anally. If you just have a straight guy doing nothing but teasing, stripping, jerking off and that is IT I'd say he'd be better off creating a solo site with previews and upselling to a live cam.

Cody Cummings is hot and he's got a great dick. But he bores me. He's a do-me queen. I think those kinds of scenarios get old really quickly and I think he'll have a hard time keeping up a strong following.

Cody Cummings is one such site.

But Cody Cummings does get blown by other guys and there is far more interactivity then this model seem comfortable with.

Jeff at Str8t Cam has created a tidy niche for himself but he is one in a thousand.

Yes, Cody has a big very verbal fan base. THey constantly argue (on the review I have) if he is bi or straight.

But yes, there is a lot of more on offer there than straight solo site would have.

I agree Chip! I think it has great potential.

It would be a success if you combined it with a 24/7 voyeur cam. When my ex-boyfriend had a solo model site, we were upto around 800 members. Not bad for an asian site, but it was the 24/7 cam that kept the members.
