The Republican party

As a Canadian i don't pay much attention to american politics but watching the decline and fall of the Republican party has all the attraction of train crash. You simply can't turn your head away.

Saw this quote(via Bill in Exile (http://www.billinexile.com/?p=10108). I think it pretty much describes where the party finds itself these days:

"{The republican party’s} position on the American spectrum of ideas is somewhere between a doomsday cult and Scientology."

Another quote I really liked was about Sarah Palin, who, despite all common sense, seems to be a darling of the Republican Party. The quote is from an Alaskan journalist:

"I've said before that I think the Governor's political ambition matched with her intellect is akin to putting a jet engine on a golf cart."
