I've noticed for the past couple of days that when I try to call the sf valley in Los Angeles, the lines are screwed up - busy signals or that undesirable satellite/sun spot type of interference

I've just been told by a couple of suppliers down there that it is now required of people in the 818 area code to first dial ONE and then the 818 area code before dialing the number in that area - its called an overlay

its happened in a couple of other LA area codes - its been making phone calls problematic for us

its a funny thing but we have one area code here on the central coast that actually handle three counties! but god forbid, the cows start to buy cell phones... !

Hey isn't that one of the benefits of living in Los Angeles?

You just have to walk across the street and you are in a new area code!

it's probably the phone route from where you are - in the sticks ;) - to the valley. i haven't had any problems calling 818.

three different people in three different areas have all had problems for the past two days and so I don't know what to say - can't really "talk" to them about it but the e-mail is okay

I've suggested going back to the old method of two cans and a string

(see illustration - I think they were talking about the new invention of the "smell-a-phone")

A - "Pardon me?"

B - "I said, did you try that knockworst they had over at the church luncheon today Madge?"
