In my constant quest for link exchanges I have noticed that many porn directories do not have a category that is appropriate for exchanging links with other directories. My thinking is that they did this as a way of "keeping" a surfer for his directory only thus not showing them that there are other places to find porn listings....and I get that...
But in the course of making that decision, have these directories sold themselves short with respect to the value of traded traffic among similar sites? Have they missed the value of 'themed topic' linking that google values in determining authorities and experts in setting listing values?
I think that there are likely many reasons for this, one of which, and likely a big one, is that many directories and link sites started as, and many remain as hobbies and thus they simply don't give much thought to this strategy...
But for me, I think that similar sites cross linking is a good thing...and I'm pretty sure that search engines think so too.
