View Full Version : Are Gay Porn Directories making a mistake?

In my constant quest for link exchanges I have noticed that many porn directories do not have a category that is appropriate for exchanging links with other directories. My thinking is that they did this as a way of "keeping" a surfer for his directory only thus not showing them that there are other places to find porn listings....and I get that...

But in the course of making that decision, have these directories sold themselves short with respect to the value of traded traffic among similar sites? Have they missed the value of 'themed topic' linking that google values in determining authorities and experts in setting listing values?

I think that there are likely many reasons for this, one of which, and likely a big one, is that many directories and link sites started as, and many remain as hobbies and thus they simply don't give much thought to this strategy...

But for me, I think that similar sites cross linking is a good thing...and I'm pretty sure that search engines think so too.

Most directories do hard link exchanges. Some on individual category pages. Few lump them into a "directory" category.

I dont' know that I agree with you nor does it make sense to me. In what single category would a site like manpics2000 list gaydemon as an example? Manpics2000 does not have a directory or link list exchange category so where would they list a broad market gay link directory such as gaydemon?

Not all do Tom. The "smart" ones do like http://www.gaypornlinx.com/

That is really good for SEO as he is linking to relevant pages and he is getting links into his internal pages.

Here is the Manpics2000 links page http://manpics2000.com/groups.htm It's under "group sites". No idea why he chose that name. Gay Demon is 13th on the list.

I have always wondered why so few have a trade toplist like altagaylinks has at the bottom. Alta trades with a lot of my tgp's via it's toplist.

In all honesty I believe the traffic is just very different. Link list owners for the most part are not really concerned about traffic in volumes. It's more about SE traffic and bookmarkers.

Alta Gay has always played the volume game. In fact when the site first launched I remember finding it via pop unders everywhere and 404 pages.
