I've found it difficult to get a bank which can offer the services I need.

The major problem is that most if not all banks are not "Adult friendly" and can often question the amount of money and they way its paid into accounts.

In some ways its understandable, they way funds are transfered to affiliates can often look like money laundring. Specially if you try and explain what you do.

So the questions are:

1. What do you tell your bank if they ask what you do, who and what they payments you recieve are from?

2. What banks do you recommend (in the UK and USA).

3. Is there any international / multinational banks you use?

u.s. banks aren't always much better. bank of america has been known to cancel adult accounts - they cancelled silvercash and the hawgs - yet several large programs use them. i hear that in the u.s., wells fargo is probably the most porn friendly.

bjorn, i tell the bank that we work for a large variety of large and small clients marketing their websites. i also tell them that we promote websites on our own for a small percentage of our sales. and in fact, that's exactly the truth.

Just today bank of America refused to deposit my paycom checks into my account, even tough I have been doing that for over 4 years now. They saw the ‘porn’ stuff one of the checks and this small office started giving me problems right after that.

Every time I go to the bank its some new rule they dig up to not offer me service. I want wire transfers primarily from now on when ever possible. U guys think its bad where U are but I am in Hater Hell Dallas TeXas

MaxPower - question. what was the word on the paycom check that caught their attention? i don't recall seeing a porn related term on a paycom check before.

Its was me I put Z Entertain, on it now they hate me :( I have 5 checks I can not cash right now, not sure if I should put them in the ATM now or not :(

Talking about this after I get this check mess fixed, I need to make sure I do not have any checks that have not been cashed out too. I did move not to long ago, and mail here has been kind of hit and miss too

My bank over here in Australia have never asked me where or who the money is from, I think thats because they like charging me $45 to put a US Cheque through my account.

Are things really getting that tough over in the US?

Maybe I will ask Rand to cancel ALL uncashed checks, and just wire me the funds. I do not want to go back to the bank, it was OK in California but here in ‘Cow Town’ its a different story.

Maybe its just this one bitch at my local bank here, but I have the feeling she ‘flagged’ something in the PC so they will know everywhere to fuck me over from now on. Last time they did not want to cash some other checks even though I have 5 times the amount in my account, and now this crap

they aren't "getting" tough, they were already tough. the b of a cancellations i know about all happened several years ago.

btw, our banks don't ask us but they do reserve the right to cancel accounts for any reason. so if you deposit a check from "Raw Nasty Ass, LLC" or your account name shown on the envelope says "allgayporn", you might suddenly need to find a new bank.

I like BOA here, been fine with me and at on branch i have the hottest teller, what a fucking waste for her to stand there with that body hair and face all day for 200 bux a week, i keep feeling tempted to hand her a biz card and see if she wants to be a porn star :D

Well our staid little branch knows. We haven't had any problems in cashing them, and having access to the funds immediately. And we did have one cheque bounce too, but they didn't yell. Heck, only time they were miffed was when we changed the account name, to add the wife, and they were upset because we didn't invite them.

Heck one teller even remarked how the porn biz seemed to be improving

our main bank is very cool - a large multi-national with only 6 branches here in California to funnel the big guys' bucks back home - they could give a rat's ass about what we do and call us "low maintenance" in comparison to the major high profile multi-nationals they cater to

I was introduced to the bank about 30 years ago - Mr. Banker, meet Tony - Tony, meet Mr. Banker... they give good vault...

most good commercial business banks expect producers and manufacturers to have varying volumes of international transactions and can cater to all of their client's needs (for a fee)

you can pm me for more info on the banks they've got in your area

Tell them you're in e-marketing and you promote products, sell movies, subscriptions, and are paid in commissions.

Hi Gaydemon,

I have a business account with Barclays.

I went into the branch at Soho square in London. Told the guy EXACTLY what we did and he didn't flinch, he offered us the account there and then.
He also told us his branch has many accounts of businesses in the "adult" industry.

Except for getting a lot of charges (but that is normal for a business account) - it is a normal account - I have a cheque book, 2 accounts, telephone and internet banking, bank passes and 24 hour advice lines.

Thanks for that!

I was just actually looking at Barclays and they offer what i need just havent setup an appointment yet:

http://www.barclayswealth.com

I need a corperate banking facility though. Is that what you setup?

It can be a real nightmare here in the UK. I've already have had 1 account closed down by a bank and had to transfer everything to another. They didnt even know it was porn related but didnt like the type of transactions I had. Even my accountant was surprised.

Its pretty shit both in the UK and USA that its difficult to get a good bank, after all we pay tax and do everything according to laws and rules setup by the government.

Washington Mutual (www.wamu.com) knows I have adult sites and do "affiliate marketing." They don't care at all.

There's an old joke that brings the point home....
------
A guy walks into a bank and says to the lady behind the counter
"I wanna open a fucking bank account."

She gets annoyed by his language and calls a manager over
and the Manager asks the guy "Whats the problem sir?"

The guy replies "I have a cashier's check for 2.3 million in my hand and I want to open a mother-fucking bank account here but I'm in a hurry..."

The branch manager's eyes widen and he responds
"Sorry for the delay sir... is this fucking cunt at the desk bothering you?!" lol
--------------------

They want your money in their accounts... and they don't care what it's from as long as there is plenty of it.

various people at your bank may well know that a person works in adult, and the tellers and account reps may have no problem with it - or even think it's fun. but the bottom line is that their opinion may not matter when push comes to shove. their corporate headquarters can change a policy or a new manager of that branch can change everything.

rofl How true!

I bank at a small family owned bank, they know what I do, have no problems with it. Sometimes you find tolerance in the coolest places.

LOL!!! You are so right. At least up here in Canada. I've deposited a few cheques into my account without any problems thus far (touch wood)

Of course, I haven't made a lot of money yet. $50 here and there.

I have no idea what problems I might encounter in the event I get a cheque for $1000 or something. In the even there is a problem, I'll just go to Money Mart I guess.

"$45 to put a US Cheque through my account." - That's just serious robbery!! My Gawd. Terrible. My heart goes out to you.

yeah right Tony... fine if your dealing with a REAL bank but when your dealing with a virtual bank and a merchant account, well that's a horse of a different color -

sorry guys and gals, I have a tendency to talk over myself - I'm moderately insane for an aging porn star... maybe it was the extensive exposure of my balls to "C" lights or something

basschick

actually there are banks where money doesn't talk - several b of a branches that closed large accounts, for example. they seem to be concerned with morality, or perhaps their concern is risking their other customers who may be concerned with morality.

I went to see Barclays yeasterday, they didnt have a problem with opening an account.

BUT

My god they charge for absolutly everything. Statments, automatic transfers.. anything you normally would do.

Plus there is no way to have access to all your accounts online, 1 account you can do over the internet then any USD accounts you have to subscribe to a dial up service.. Plus pay £15 per account! And you cant setup wiretransfers over the phone or online..

I'll stick with HSBC for a while longer, maybe they are not so bad after all..

Mmm, I got 2 years free banking when I joined Barclays Business Banking. Now, my charges run at about £10 per month + extra charges for receiving payments in to my USD account... but they pay more in interest to me thanks to my lovely VAT savings account!
