so far, all the can spam cases i know involving large sponsors end up with the sponsors settling with the FTC. on the one hand, i can see where a potentially drawn-out court battle could cost more in terms of both money and resources, but most of the cases i've seen involved affiliates breaking expressed rules by the programs. i don't see how a program should be responsible for every single person who signs up, so i think this is really good news!
