Tips for Building Free Sites

Maybe it might be good to have a thread of tips for building free sites and galleries that would help with getting submissions accepted at the widest number of directories as well as getting the best placement in search engines. I'll start the list and hopefully others will add their tips to it so we can create a nice Free Sites Tips thread.

- Always use different Page Titles for each page of the site
- Always choose a set of keywords you wish to have the page rank for and then use them in your page title, meta keywords, as well as text on the page.
- Use an h1 header on each page that matches your target keywords for that page
- Use alt tags for your images that correspond to each particular page's targeted keywords
- Use keyword linking between your pages in the site
- Do not over use keywords on each page. Too much can result in penalties.
- Name your page file names the same as the target keywords for that page

Those are good SEO tips.

I will think about this one and post a bit on "making the sale.". Off the top of my head your warning page, index page, and last gallery page seem to drive the sales to sponsors.

One thing i hear all the time is that the top banners are not a good spot. Never found this to be true. Probably the two most valuable spots are the top of the warning page and the index page. Followed by the bottom of your last gallery page.

I really believe one has to realize the best real estate spots on their sites.

Full Page Ads make sales! Many, many link lists do not allow them, but if you have enough link lists that allow a Full Page Ad after the warning page, make a version of your site for these FPA link lists.
